This month’s post will be short because my life is especially crazy right now. I’m a university professor, so May is always busy for me anyway, and the uncertainty related to the pandemic isn’t helping in that regard. But on top of that, my older daughter is graduating college–today!–and later this month my younger daughter is graduating high school. The older kid will (probably) be moving back home from Oregon to California to attend graduate school. Meanwhile, the younger one will be moving up to Oregon to attend college.
If you’re picturing us driving up and down I-5 with an SUV full of kids’ belongings, you’re picturing correctly.
And in addition to all of that, I’m working on a book manuscript for the day job and I’m in various stages of writing and editing and submitting two novels, two short stories, and a novella.
So not only a busy time, but a time of transitions. Which is exciting but also scary. I have a zillion plot ideas simmering in my brain and no time to settle in and write–a little frustrating. Well, at least it’s not boring, right?
I hope that by next month everything is feeling a little more settled, and that we’re all on a trajectory to good health and happiness.

Kim Fielding is the bestselling author of numerous m/m romance novels, novellas, and short stories. Like Kim herself, her work is eclectic, spanning genres such as contemporary, fantasy, paranormal, and historical. Her stories are set in alternate worlds, in 15th century Bosnia, in modern-day Oregon. Her heroes are hipster architect werewolves, housekeepers, maimed giants, and conflicted graduate students. They’re usually flawed, they often encounter terrible obstacles, but they always find love.
After having migrated back and forth across the western two-thirds of the United States, Kim calls the boring part of California home. She lives there with her family and her day job as a university professor, but escapes as often as possible via car, train, plane, or boat. This may explain why her characters often seem to be in transit as well. She dreams of traveling and writing full-time.
