BLURB:
My life has been a series of cages—indifferent foster home walls, mocking school hallways, the finality of a police cruiser’s back seat.
It’s a miracle prison didn’t kill me. A miracle with an Iron Heretics MC tattoo on his shoulder and enough clout to protect a snot-nosed kid with a lisp from getting his head bashed in. The old man taught me to fight and hooked me up with his club once I was on the outside.
At least in this cage I can move around freely. For the first time in my life, I’m forging my own path with people I trust to have my back. When Zach—a Prospect with the Heretics St. Louis charter—walks into my training gym with his boyish smile and movie-star good looks, I start aching for more than I have the right to ask for: a home and someone to share it with.
Zach is skittish and focused on earning his full patch, and I’ve never been in a relationship. Between Heretics enemies, learning to communicate, and an endless string of cage fights, we agree to try and make a go of it. Could be a knock-out. Could be my next big disaster.
At the end of the day, a cage is a cage, and somehow, the Prospect is the only one holding the key to mine.
REVIEW:
Second chances are precious, especially when you just came out of prison. Being scared of life outside of prison is also part of the deal. But with family, even chosen, and friends there to support you, life can be good again.
Ward was in prison for six years, and he thinks someone was looking out for him because Mutt became his cellmate and friend. Mutt took him under his wing, protected him and taught him how to fight. He was sad when he got out first and left Mutt there. Mutt endorsed him to his motorcycle club, the Iron Heretics- Sand Lake Charter. When he got out of the gate of the prison, Jeb, the President, and Kade were waiting for him. They brought him back to the club and welcomed him. He began training with Kade in order to fight for their club.
Zach is Mutt’s nephew. He is a prospect of the Iron Heretics MC-St. Louis Charter. Ever since his uncle went to prison he never visited. At first he was too angry to visit, and then after a few years, he just doesn’t know how. He met Ward when his club visited their charter. There was an undeniable attraction between them. Although Zach has never been with a man before, he doesn’t see it as a big deal, you get attracted to whoever you want. He hooked up with Ward after dancing around each other for a week. But then he had to go back to St. Louis the day after. He didn’t want to have an awkward morning after, well that’s what he told Ward anyway.
This tale is about two young men who have had their own trials early on in life, especially Ward who was in foster care. I guess we could say that they have both been given second chances belonging to their MCs. They are men who are confident in their sexuality and unafraid to love, whoever that may be. I love the qualities of both main characters. They are men who are not afraid to work hard, to learn new stuff and to support/defend their family.
