BLURB:
Van is an omega assassin used to taking care of himself. Hudson is an older alpha who sees through Van’s rough exterior to the mate within.
When Van’s latest mission forces him into hiding, he’s certain all the free time will drive him insane. Working as an assassin for the OAC is his life. He takes on the worst of the worst—alphas who don’t see value in an omega’s life. And he doesn’t want to ever stop. To be an effective agent, Van has had to turn away from his nature. The meek, mild disposition of most omegas has no place on a mission. He isn’t coddled or doted on. No one worries if he comes home with a scratch or bruise. Not until Hudson.
Van is skittish and untrusting, but Hudson can be patient, especially when the reward is so sweet. When Van stops by to say goodbye, but won’t say who he’s hiding from or why, Hudson knows he can’t let him out of his sight. He offers Van an alternative hideout on his farm hours away from the city. He knows how dangerous this world is for omegas, he lost his brother over twelve years ago and gained four sons in the process, all teenagers by now. And while Van isn’t very forthcoming, Hudson knows he’s worth the wait and effort. He’ll earn Van’s trust, even if he has to do it the hard way.
What started as an experiment for Van to see how the other half lives turns into so much more. Van never expected to love a life of early morning chores and school lunches. He thought he’d be bored stiff way out in the country, but every day, Hudson shows him something else to appreciate, something else to miss when his real life comes calling.
If the OAC taught Van how to stand strong, then his time with Hudson has taught him how to also rely on the strength of others. But, when an old threat comes knocking on his door, the pristine life Van has made in the country comes to a shuddering halt. Can Hudson love the man Van is? Will Van have to choose between his life helping people in the OAC and his mate?
Quench is the second book the Omega Assassins Club series. This book contains mentions of violence as well as topics that may arise in an a/b/o world where power is not distributed evenly. It is an mpreg/omegaverse romance with comedy and heat and just the right amount of spice!
REVIEW:
Man am I loving this series! Omegas in power. Omegas taking control and making a stand. Granted, it’s undercover and quietly, but they are fighting the good fight for all those who can’t make a stand.
Van is on a mission this time. But before he even gets to his mark, he’s ambushed by a huge dude. Van, with the help of Ryder, injure the big dude and take out the mark, but Van is seen because he’s been hurt and not careful and now he needs to go on the run and hide. He’s supposed to go to a safe house, but instead is outside an apartment of an alpha that brings out a side of Van, he didn’t know was possible. He likes that Hudson wants to care for him and protect him, but he has no clue what Van really is. When Van leaves to hide with Hudson and his kids, he’s learning to love the life. Until that life comes in connection with his other life and those he cares for are in danger. Then Van the assassin takes over. But now Hudson knows and when it’s time for debriefing, Van doesn’t want to leave but Hudson tells him not to come back. And Van doesn’t know how to get past this and to the man he’s learning to love.
I swear, no matter how hard these omegas work, sometimes they just can’t catch a break. They know the risks as far as marks and their jobs, but when unexpected alphas come in and turn their world upside down, it leaves them in the lurch. Especially when that alpha is not at all like the alphas they normally deal with or have dealt with. It’s refreshing for them, but still leaves them floundering because they don’t know how to act. Which is almost funny. These big bad assassins trying to figure out how to be the omegas they were meant to be instead of the omegas they are trained to be. It’s sweet. I love how patient these alphas have been too. Even with Magnus and now Hudson, they know something is off with their omegas. But they are patient with them, understanding there are things they can’t say, even though their alphas are demanding otherwise. They refuse to bow down to the old ways. They are patient, frustrated, but understanding and give their omegas time to trust and come to them on their own. The way it should be.
I love how this series has turned out. I LOVE it. Although rights for omegas still suck, these guys are doing their best to change the world a little at a time. It’s not easy. It leaves it’s mark on them, but for the greater good, they keep trying.
