Welcome TJ 🙂

Rottnest Island

Most people have heard of Rottenest Island (known as Rotto to the locals) thanks to the very photogenic quokka. I’ve lived in Perth for over twenty years but have only been across to the island twice. The first time when I was twentish and the second time was for my anniversary and we flew over in a tiny plane and rode around the island on Segways—which was very nice, and I was much better prepared. Twenty years ago, not so much…

I’d grown up in Tasmania (the island at the bottom of Australia where summer was anything over 20 Celsius). At twenty I was now living in Perth experiencing a lovely spring (that felt like summer) and Rottenest was only a ferry ride away, so over I went. There are no cars on the island, and back then the only option was to bring or hire a bike—I hired a bike. I hadn’t ridden in several years.

But it was fine. Until it wasn’t.

I know I burn fast (my hair was red, before it started going gray), but I was unprepared for what the Perth sun could do to me. It was only later in the afternoon that the familiar tightening of the skin became noticeable.

My legs were rather well done. To the point that sheets touching them was agonizing.

I had made the fatal mistake of not reapplying sunscreen to the backs of my legs because I was riding, and legs need some sun, right? No, they do not need sun ever, and anyone who has seen my legs can attest to the fact they are completely untouched by sun for the last twenty years. As I’ve gotten older, I have been more sun smart, but having had more than a few moles cut out also serves as a reminder.

My two heroes in Lucifer’s Litigator are a little smarter. They remember the sunscreen and other protection when they go across for some summer fun 😉

Blurb:

To save his soul, he’ll have to fix his one regret—the love that got away.

The summer between the end of school and the start of what came next was full of sun, surf, and sex. For Will McLeod, that meant Tom, his first male lover. He knew the romance had an expiration date and would end when Tom joined the Army, but that didn’t stop Will from falling in love.

Tired of being looked down upon for being poor, Will became a lawyer—but not just any lawyer. He litigates for the gods as they gamble with the lives of those desperate enough to make deals. His job is to make sure they don’t slip free. He has more money than he knows what to do with, but he’s fast running out of soul.

Twenty-five years haven’t dimmed the candle Will holds for Tom, and when they meet again, he has a chance to put things right. Back then, Tom wasn’t ready to fight for them. Now the decorated soldier is willing to get his hands dirty, but will he be a match for the forces trying to keep them apart?
