Hey it’s Dakota Storm aka Nanee McGee here, popping in to talk about my writing, a collaboration project and KU.
First off, it’s been a tough year for me writing wise, I am not one of the lucky one’s (at least not right now) to be able to write full time, I have a very demanding more than full time job and no focus. I have ideas running wild in my brain but getting those ideas down is another thing. I had two releases in 2017 and then one late last year, totaling three books under my pen name Dakota storm, Hunter did very well hitting # 1 albeit for a short time and then Rescued was in the top 5 as well, my last book Trevor I had high hopes for but the sales just weren’t there (although did decent for a bit)…. From what I understand a lot of authors were struggling at the beginning of this year with sales and Trevor just wasn’t a lot of people’s cup of tea, some reviews were great… others ok… My focus got off track and with losing two family members and working full time my focus was gone. It’s tough when you get into a rut to fight your way out (at least for me) I am getting back to it though, I have a HOT Flash coming out in September (Hot Flash is a very short book) that JMS publishes for readers who enjoy a shorter read…I have a collab coming soon with a amazing writer (who will not be named quit yet!) and have several WIP’s, So I think I am getting back on track…I spoke with some other authors along my non focused journey and it seems like a lot of writers go through it, my publisher has been very supportive and get’s it (which is awesome) I was frustrated beyond belief and it was putting me further off track, but I have some great friends on facebook who continued to cheer me on, kick me in the butt and yell at me when I need it to keep writing….My hubs is amazing as always! So you will be seeing more from Dakota Storm shortly and a kick ass collab! I wanted to also touch on KU….I have decided and again my publisher is more than supportive to put all my books back on Kindle unlimited, it seems to be the way to go for a lot of authors and being so new to the genre I think it’ll get my name out there more. I think money is tight for a lot of people and KU gives people the freedom to try new to them authors and not having to purchase each one. lastly getting myself out there, I am not fortunate rnough to have a lot of time to spend on social media, having my own group and really getting my brand out there…It’s a time thing, but I think this year my focus will be to set a more regimented time slot for writing, socializing and focusing on my true passion WRITING!!
