REVIEW:
It never ceases to crack me up so bad when people first meet Jesse. They don’t know whether to laugh or stare in horror. Usually turns out to be both. So when Gabriel makes a life changing decisions based on a whim, he’s in for the surprise of his life.
Gabriel is fed up with life. He works for a Campaign company that are assholes, his mother is determined for him to never have fun or for him to live his life the way he wants. She wants him to be president and all he wants is to be in the background. When he makes a quick last minute decision to go to Cedar Falls to be Jesse’s campaign manager, he feels like he’s doing the right thing. After all, he’s gay too. But meeting Jesse and working for Jesse is definitely a job. The upside is everyone caught how he couldn’t keep his eyes off Laken, the massage therapist, so Jesse keeps booking him appointments and they’ve started dating. But Gabriel has also noticed a few other things. Jesse may be flighty as hell, but he really cares about this town and it’s people. And the ideas he has to help the community are phenomenal. Especially when he sees how Jesse helps a farmer about to lose everything. The solution he has not only helps the farmer but the community. And the ideas just keep coming. But Jesse is who Jesse is and he’s not going to change, and that has Gabriel worried. Especially when the mayor is running a smear campaign against everyone who’s gay. And now his mom shows up in the middle of it all. He may have just reached his breaking point.
How people have not learned how Jesse is yet amazes me lol. It is the funniest damn thing ever. And even though, this is kind of Gabriel and Laken’s love story, it’s a lot about Jesse too, since it’s time to run for mayor. When Gabriel first met Jesse he was horrified. How he was going to get Jesse suited up for this, he didn’t know. But what impressed me, is that he finally started seeing the real Jesse. Ok, yes, the man is nuts half the time, but he’s got a huge heart and a smart sense of what’s going on. He pays attention and is the first in line to help in times of need. And it was so nice to see someone else get what Jesse is really about. Despite his antics. Which are epic. It was also awesome to see Gabriel find his backbone and stand on his own two feet against his mother. Who needed to be brought down a peg or two.
Of course, Betty Sue, Mayor Murphy and others are up to no good. But Jesse as usual has a hand on handling it. And even has Gabriel’s mother as another backup! It’s funny as hell. I can’t wait to see how this series ends. It’s so good.
