BLURB:
Huge, horrid creatures with a taste for human flesh have been invading Seacliff Manor and its surrounding lands for years. Ghouls are coming from another world through portals made of magic. No one knows why or how, but nothing good ever comes with them.
During a hunting trip, Eamon encounters one such monster and falls through a portal into the ghoul’s hellacious desert home world. Separated from his home, his friends, and his lover, with no magic of his own and no sign of other life, Eamon expects to die there…until an encounter with a lone stranger gives him hope. There is a way home. But can Eamon survive alone in ghoul-infested terrain long enough to get there?
Worlds away, the Lord of Seacliff Manor is determined to bring Eamon home. Despite all evidence to the contrary, Rafe knows his human lover is alive. It’s just a matter of finding out where. To that end, Rafe has a plan. It’s dangerous, perhaps even suicidal, but he’ll do anything to save the man he loves.
From different sides of the galaxy, the lovers fight monsters and seek magic with one goal in mind: reunion. Monsters aren’t the only things they’ll have to defeat to find their way back to each other, and the horrors uncovered along the way may be more than they can handle.
REVIEW:
For those of you into fantasy, this is a good one for you. Ghouls, Rin, (who are like a cross between vamps and incubi), crossing worlds, betrayals, murder and so much more.
Rafe went to fight a ghoul in his village, with his bondmate and lover, Eamon, by his side, when Eamon got knocked down and literally rolled into another world/dimension. The thread, the bond, gone. Disappeared. Eamon is determined to get home and Rafe is determined to get him. But Eamon’s pale body is not used to this dimension and he quickly gets sick. But thankfully is rescued by a trans named Beah. Beah does all he can to help Eamon until Eamon suggests they go back to Beah’s village. When Eamon hears why, he is horrified but they think of a plan. Eamon needs to get home. At the same time, Rafe, is learning of a new power and is now ready to get his man. When he arrives in the other world Eamon is in, he discovers an uproar. Beah and a priestess being made to sacrifice, a nutso trying to run things, ghouls, killing everything, and a betrayal that is found deep. Rafe doesn’t know too much about it, but what he does know it’s wrong. And the king knows it’s about to start a war. That’s if they can survive this.
Secrets, betrayals and behind the scenes shady stuff going on in this book. Rafe’s own kind using ghouls to kill, and so much more. During the time Eamon was gone, Rafe had a feeling there was something too shady going on, but his main focus was always Eamon. So when he got him, it was wild and passionate. But knowing his new powers are great, they’re also hurting Eamon and he has to learn control. He also knows it may be time for war which scares him. He just got Eamon back. He doesn’t want to lose him again.
It’s a good book. Good storyline, good characters and acceptance in the way it should be.
