BLURB:
Amaruq is a FTM transgender werewolf. Though confident in his own body, he runs up against the challenges of living and loving in a college environment. These pale when compared to the violence he is subjected to.
Nootaikok is a former tracker, a killer who is looking for a new lease on life. He finds his solace in Amaruq. But when that way of life is threatened by terrorists, he must reclaim his former training, despite his demons, or see his love die.
Can Amaruq and Nootaikok’s love rise from the ashes of disaster like the storied phoenix?
REVIEW:
I liked the plot of the story. A tracker trying to recover his life after a bad hostage situation. A trans FTM trying to make it on his own with the life he wants, in spite of his parents. Wanting to know his heritage and things. And more of the worlds of other paranormals and magics. The problem I had is, for me, it was a relationship jumped into.
Amaruq dreamed of Nootaikok being his mat and blurted that out their first meeting. And while Nootaikok couldn’t really accept that, it just became about sex.
But it did have an interesting point at one section of the book. Grand fae and vampires were taking hostages in Amaruq’s building. The females were raped, including him, and Nootaikok felt useless for not being able to do the job he was trained to be. But a plan was come up with and they attacked back. But hopefully they kill their attackers first or all of them could die.
I guess being a precog and having magical powers, you see things differently. Which is some ways I think would be great. However, blurting out to your new college roommate that you are mates…..not so smart. I wish there was more substance to this book. Have the hostage thing take longer or a different turn. Add some more fire to the mix, so to speak.
It’s not too bad though. But I will warn you, although I should have first, there could be triggers. The female captives are raped in this and some others are hurt. So take care. But see what you think.
