BLURB:
Vida had spent a good part of his life in a whirlpool of depression and it all rooted back to his parent’s rejection of him. He likely would have withered away if it weren’t for his brother, Dane. His rock and chariot. The person who had touched him and made him feel so loved and adored. If only Vida could find his happy ever after with someone who also made him feel that same way Dane did.
The biggest hurdle was finding himself again. And who knew the discovery would be brought on by a little mouse?
There was something to be said about having the Dominion of Brothers as his family; they’d loved him and watched over him as he stumbled around trying to reinvent himself until finally coming to the spot they knew all along. Who he was. Now, Vince did too.
Oh, and there was also something about the handsome doctor fellow whose eyes lit up when he looked at him.
Pavle Laszkovi felt like a school kid fumbling about for the right words to ask the androgynous man for tea. He’d never laid eyes on someone so beautiful. Like an angel unspoiled by the world. Such protection probably had a lot to do with the older brother who watched over and guarded him like a Doberman Pincher. A formidable man Pavle would have to win over if he was planning on touching Vida~Vince.
REVIEW:
This is the series that introduced me to MM/gay romance and I was hooked. The extremely talented writing team of twin brothers, Talon P.S. and Tarian P.S., have created a place very close to my heart. They have created a close band of brothers, The Brothers of Dominion, that protect and take care of their own…no matter the cost to themselves. How could you possibly not fall in love with all of them?
Vida/Vince is the younger brother of Dane Masters, the Golden Master who runs Club Pain. Vida has been the hostess of the club but, after an outing out with Katianna (Trenton’s Life Slave) he rediscovers himself again and quits donning the Drag Queen persona. With the help of the little mouse (Kat) Vince re-emerges and searches for what he truly wants in life but at what cost?
I had not paid a lot of attention to Vida before. I knew that she was Dane’s younger androgynous brother that appeared in full drag and there was a story there. But I know now that it is a deep and some might say a dark story. Dane was the golden child of the Masters family, blond and beautiful with a commanding presence. When Vince was born it was obvious he was not carrying on Dane’s looks and presence. While Dane commanded attention with his looks and physique Vince was quite delicate and beautiful in a more feminine way. When their parents discovered he was gay he was sent away for conversion therapy. Dane stepped in and threatened to disown his family if they sent his younger brother away again. Vince became a ghost to his parents from then on out. But Dane always took care of him and made him feel beautiful and loved. Maybe way too loved for most people. This is where I need to warn you. This book pushes the bounds of the world’s views on love. Taboos such as incest are not well tolerated by society and this could disturb some readers. Although there is no actual on page sexual contact there is quite a bit of sensual kissing and desires. It causes quite a bit of controversy and problems for Vince when it becomes known by Pavle. I believe this has been a big concern for Trenton and Diesel too. I really liked how Trenton dealt with Vida~Vince with Katianna and with Pavle. I could tell that he was concerned for Vince and Dane’s welfare and mental health. Living outside of society’s expectations on incest could have huge potential fallout for both brothers. I appreciated that Trenton kept a close eye on both.
Dane’s attraction and love of Vida~Vince has been a constant force in both their lives. This is a mutual attraction but has caused an unhealthy problem for them both. It has also interfered with either of them moving on. Dane’s sense of guarding his brother has become an obsession for him and I fear that, if he doesn’t find is own mate, will come back to bite them both. As it is it almost cost Vince his chance at true love and happiness and ultimately could have cost him his life.
I found it cute and charming that Pavle was this amazing surgeon and the Chief-of -Staff at a huge hospital in New York yet became a bumbling nerd when it came to relationships and love. I did love the support of his family and his ex-wife and kids as he tried to go after Vince. But I also loved that Darko and Pyotr (his older brothers) also were very protective of Vince. It turns out that Darko is Vince’s best friend and Pyotr was his therapist. I love both of these men. Darko is who introduced me to this series in the first place.
If you have forgot some of the past books (this series has been evolving for quite a few years, writing a 500+ page books takes time, and the authors are sticklers for detail) then be reassured because this book takes place during most of the timeline and reminds you of past events.
I was horrified at the huge cliffhanger that ended Right One 4 Diesel and was relieved to get a tiny bit of relief in this book. My poor, Diesel had been wheeled into that ER what seemed like forever ago. I’m just thankful that Pavle was on duty. Pavle has been intricate in many of the healings of these books and I am sure that he will be there making sure he does all he can to make sure Diesel gets all the best medical attention he needs.
I have made it known that Trenton/Katianna/Diesel/Paris are some of my most favorite book characters of all time and this series is in my top series too. But sweet little Vince and nerdy Pavle are becoming pretty darn close to my heart too! I mean who couldn’t want to protect and love Vince? But, as I stated, Pavle has been there to save many of the characters who have been hurt so he’s a big time hero in my eyes and heart too. And I hope that all stays good for them…and the Dominion of Brothers and the entire Laszkovi family too. I fear there is much more danger on the horizon before this series is through.
I LOVED this book way more than I had thought I would. I thought is was just a bridge to get to the conclusion but, as usual in this series, I way super wrong. This book opened my eyes to some of the rest of the Brothers and the things that they are dealing with. And it highlighted Kat’s and Vida~Vince’s relationship plus Drako’s and Pyotr’s relationships with Vince too. I can’t wait until the next book because I have a feeling it’s going to be a doozy! When Trenton is released from prison and Diesel gets his health restored there is going to be hell to pay and I have a feeling everyone will be involved! 5 huge flaming hearts for this one!
