Damien is an ambitious young lawyer. After moving to Germany, he doesn’t expect to feel quite so out of his element. Apart from hating his job, a rumor spreads that he is a homophobe.
To redeem himself, he is put in charge of the firm’s signature event Burning Fall. He has no choice but to hire Yannik, a gorgeous yet unconventional event manager.
But from their first disastrous meeting, everything possible goes wrong.
Can the two men find a way to work together, or will Damien’s career, Yannik’s future, and the most important client event of the year go down in flames?
REVIEW:
Not a bad little romance. Lots of angst, push and pull, and tension between the MCs. My only problem is with all the build up between these two, I felt like the ending fell flat. For me, anyway. Once they got past everything and to the party itself, the book was basically over. I just felt it maybe needed a bit more. But you guys read it and see what you think. It is a good romance.
When Damien got the chance to move to the office in Germany, he jumped at it. A new chance at new things. But his first few weeks aren’t going so well. He’s not adjusting to the people real well, whether from all the work he has or because he’s uncomfortable. But he really messed it up now. He’s supposed to hire an event coordinator for a huge party for the firm. Like the biggest party. But the guy, Yannik, wasn’t dressed well, and was late. Which for Damien, was bad. Yannik walked out defeated and when his friends called to find out if he got it, he said no and why. Yannik’s friends work at that firm and tried to help get it all fixed. But for Damien it was a nightmare. People were shunning him now and all because they jumped to the wrong conclusions about why Damien didn’t hire Yannik. Once it’s all straightened, Yannik and Damien actually get to know each other. But of course, there are some miscommunications and wrong assumptions that make it tough. And they have to get past them or walk away.
First impressions are a doozy. And sometimes it can make or break things. But sometimes there needs to be a little compassion as well. Damien has been having a hard time at this new office and by being disgruntled already, he jumped the gun and misjudged Yannik before even hearing anything. And it started a big mess over something that could have been worked around. So, I felt sorry for Damien to a point. In a way, I think things were a bit of his own making as well. By being closed off and not even really saying hi to anyone, they made the wrong assumptions, yes, but how can they guess otherwise. It’s a big to-do over something a few words would have solved.
I felt for Yannik, too. Just because he looks a little different, people assume the wrong things about him as well. Follows along that old saying, ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover.’ Yes, he got the chance to reprove himself and I’m glad. He was treated unfairly. He’s good at his job. It’s hard, too, when you’re attracted to the person treating you unfairly.
It’s a lot of drama and angst, but good. Just like real life can be lol. Give it a go and see how you like it. I think you will.
