Snacks, Goodies and Character Voices by Annabella Stone

Hi Everyone:
I’m Annabella and I’m kinda freaking out as I’ve never written a blog post before.
(This is my first monthly author post for Love Bytes )
Gosh, it’s almost like the first day at school or starting in a new job. Nervous and excited all at once. So this one I am going to try and show you who I am and who my characters are too. Along with telling you about all the goodies and snacks that my characters require to help me finish a story.

I never intended to be an author, I didn’t set out to write a book. I had voices in my head driving me crazy. I could see their story like a movie in my head. An author friend of mine told me to write it down, so I did.
It was NaNo month and she challenged me to write the story during November 2017 and to get it out of my head. That’s where Jonah’s Compass came from. I wrote it in three weeks. I would probably never have published it if another friend hadn’t asked where I had been hiding for those three weeks. Once I caved and she got her hands on the manuscript, she didn’t let up until I sent it to an editor and published it.  Does that classify me as an accidental author?
I have a thing going on when I write, I have to have the goodies. Coffee (That’s a given, not even the woofers move in my house before I am suitably caffeinated) Jack Daniels (for night time writing, I can make a glass last for hours) Jellies (they have to be the sour ones that look like teddy bears, yum) and my favorite, J.D. Goss dark chocolate with Orange and Almond. (Oops looking at that all of those, it is a good thing I have 5 large malamutes to exercise daily or I’d have trouble fitting through the door.)
I am ruled by the voices in my head, they tell their stories, it is my job to write them down. I have tried plotting a story. I honestly have, for Micah’s Promise, I sat for a full week and worked it all out. (I even had bullet points.) I was getting at least two emails or PMs a day asking me to put this triad together. I tried to do the story the readers were looking for. I really did. I started it three times and I would get to that first sex scene and Micah would shut up, he wouldn’t listen. “Nope, not happening.” So I scrapped it and started over.
This time I listened to what Micah was saying and I finished that book in two weeks. The first chapter made me cry buckets of tears, some of it is part memories and more from my twenty years in breeding, showing and working dogs. Micah’s Promise is one of my favorites. (oops, maybe I am not meant to say that. 🙂 )
Coming next from me is Noble (Tags of Honor, book 2) which will release in early February.
Along with my love of dogs and books, I’m a graphics nerd who also enjoys hiking and dog-shows.

I love meeting the readers who enjoy my stories so feel free to look me up on facebook,

I’ve had other authors tell me that they cry as they write…which, as a reader, reinforces my own tears. Munchies…I’d vacillate between black licorice and popcorn!
