Pax Polo is the swashbuckling guitarist for Serenity Free.
Correction: Was the swashbuckling guitarist for Serenity Free.
Now he sports a black eye and his bros have kicked him out of their band—three weeks before Christmas. It’s an unfamiliar kick to his over-inflated ego, but . . . whatever.
No problem.
Thanks to some stellar eavesdropping, an unexpected angel ornament, and a bribe to open for his favorite band ever, Pax will weasel his way back into his mates’ good graces.
All he has to do is friend Clifford, the neighborhood man-shrew, for the summer. Distract him a bit so Clifford’s younger sister can sneak around.
It sounds like a piece of beginners Beethoven. Jolly good fun.
Easy.
Because, Pax totally knows how to friend people. He has heaps of friends. This shrew’s no match for his shrewd ways. Or is he?
REVIEW:
What a story. An over inflated ego of a rock star going against a Shrewd mind of the neighborhood shrew. Each in their own way playing a game, but not knowing how to act when it becomes more than a game.
I don’t know who I wanted to shake more. Pax or Cliff. Both so hard headed and stubborn. But when it comes down to it, some of their behavior comes from what they’ve been through. The walls always staying up, the uncomfortable laughter to shake things off….yeah. it’s hard to let someone in with their different situations. Especially when both sides also know something is up. Pax is more or less being forced to help in a situation so he can get back into good graces with his band. Cliff knows something is up to keep him distracted from his sister.
But as these two get to know each other, the truth is coming out little by little and things are changing. Pax realizes things about his band that have changed things for him. Cliff is starting to realize it’s ok to have fun again. But any big change is scary. It kills me too, because both of these boys underneath all the bluster, flirting and everything else, they are just so full of heart and hopeful, but so scared.
This story is so sweet. It’s funny, tearful, sometimes sad, but hopeful and under the watch of an ornamental Angel that seems to help bring love. It’s a good story. One to curl in front of the fireplace and engross yourself in.
