Avery Rivers is a country music sensation, selling records by the millions and playing to sold-out crowds. But behind that persona is Robert, a burned-out musician cracking under the pressure. He’s unable to write any new songs, and he wants out of the business—at least for a while. He changes his appearance and finds honest, hard work in Jackson, Wyoming. Maybe getting to be a regular guy for a while will get him past his block.
Hy Whitely was a championship bull rider until he watched his best friend thrown in the arena and decided the rodeo circuit was no longer the place for him. He wants to be plain old Zeke for a while, and when he returns to his family ranch, he bumps right into Robert—a one-night stand from his last rodeo appearance who is now working there as a ranch hand.
The heat between the men could sear the grass off the range, but each one is hiding a secret. Robert and Zeke, the men behind the public images, fall in love, but can they hold on when Avery and Hy are pulled back into the spotlight?
REVIEW:
In Don’t Let Go we meet Robert Cummings AKA – “Avery Rivers”, a country music sensation who is worn out and on the verge of a breakdown. We also meet Hezekiah ‘Zeke’ Whitingly AKA – “Hy Whitely” a professional bull rider with a real shot at the championship who is devastated when his best friend is thrown in the ring and doesn’t survive it.
As a country music star Robert is burning out fast, he’s under immense pressure to write, sing and promote his music constantly and he has been able to do this for years. Now, he hasn’t written a new song in longer than he can remember, and the constant touring and appearances have drained him unbearably. Robert decides to go on a road trip on his own to recharge his batteries, after he meets Zeke at a bar in Cheyenne they spend the night together never thinking it’ll ever be anything more than one night.
Zeke is ready for some time at home on the family ranch, so he can re-evaluate his life and where it’s heading. His best friend since childhood has just died as a direct result of being thrown in the ring and it has shaken Zeke to his core. When he arrives home, he discovers his father has hired on a new ranch hand Robert, his one-night stand in Cheyenne that he hasn’t been able get out of his head! The road to everlasting love is not a smooth one for Zeke and Robert especially when their pasts catch up to them. Both men must find a way to make their wildly different lives mesh, the one constant positive thing is that they love each other!
I highly recommend that you grab a copy of Don’t Let Go and immerse yourself in music, rodeo and ranch life with Zeke and Robert.
