Brendon isn’t in a rut, per se—he just always seems to be in-between things. Jobs. Degrees. Boyfriends. He never finishes what he starts. The perfect path is out there somewhere, and if he can just figure out what it is, he’s certain everything else will fall into place.
The last thing he expects is to meet his soul mate in the pages of a magazine quiz. “Who Is Your Perfect Man?” by Matthew Kingston seems like a road map to his future husband: the author himself. Brendon may not have his life figured out, but if Matt is as romantic as his quiz, Brendon can check “true love” off his to-do list.
When Brendon fakes a meet-cute between them, Matt proves to be as wonderful as he hoped. The more Brendon gets to know him, the harder he falls. But Brendon has a confession to make: how can he explain to Matt that he arranged their “fated” meeting? Brendon can’t tell if he’s found his soul mate, heartache, or all of the above.
REVIEW:
All of the Above is a truly entertaining, super-sweet and also very heartwarming short story and I read it in one sitting. I love the plot idea and this is a wonderful romantic fantasy coming to live in front of our eyes.
The writing is solid with a great style and an entertaining, gripping plot-line laced with some tension coming from the secrets lingering around. Even the conflict is very well done and as someone who prefers love stories with minimal angst, it was very important for me. There is just the right amount of tension, misunderstanding and hurt so the making up is all much sweeter.
Brendon and Matt are soulmates. And yes, I do believe in soulmates. People who belong together. Period. These two guys meet in a rather unortodox way but it doesn’t stop them from developing something meaningful.
Brendon is a hopeless romantic with a fun quirky personality and the biggest heart ever. He is working at the mall while finishing his studies at a beauty school. When he fills out a quiz in a magazine, he realizes that the creator of said quiz must be his one true soulmate and nothing can stop him from finding his other half, so his emotional, adventurous quest begins.
Matt (though not perfect) is every bit the person who could make Brendon happy. The bumps and obstacles they have to overcome are the necessary evil since *nothing worth having comes easy*. These two guys deserve their happily ever after big time.
I adore the secondary characters as well who are also wholesome, fun, very unique people and they give some spice to this lovely story.
The date ideas are the best I have ever heard of and all the romantic details, all the fantastic places they visit and all the favorite things they share prove how perfect Matt and Brendon are for each other.
The epilogue gives a wonderful sense of contentment and peace, and I hope you like this story as much as I did. If you are looking for a sweet, light love story with some great feels and good humor, this book is a good choice for you.
