Lavender Shores’s resident tattoo artist, Connor Clark, looks the part—six foot six, musclebound, and covered in ink—and most definitely doesn’t blend in. Grafted into the Bryant family as a teenager to escape his abusive father, the Bryants saved his life, but Connor has never truly felt a part of the founding family royalty. And if his heart’s desire were revealed, it would betray everything the Bryants have done for him.
Micah Bryant was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He’s always had everything he ever wanted—save the one he desires most. Even moving to New York City for a few years didn’t dampen his passion. Not that Micah had expected it to. He’s known his destiny since he was nine years old, the moment it had walked through his door.
After years of longing, years of secrets and stolen moments of passion and love, Connor weakens enough to allow the town to see how he feels, and let the Bryants know his love for Micah is anything but brotherly. But no sooner had the decision been made than Connor’s biological family returns and shatters it all. Still, Micah holds on to the belief that their romance was written in the stars, but maybe he’d been wrong all those years….
REVIEW:
A huge treat for me is when I find the next book in the Lavender Shores series in my in-box. I must say, The Hideaway was an amazing treat!!!
We have all seen Connor Clark lurking around the edges in the previous books. That is if it is even possible that a six foot six giant could ever lurk or fade away in the background. But Connor has never truly felt like he was a Bryant or fit in. When Gilbert brought him home the family opened their arms and hearts to this sweet, abused 13 year old boy. But being part of a founding family isn’t always easy…especially when you have a huge secret life with one of their other sons! Micah Bryant is the baby of the family, a violin prodigy at the age of 4. He has lived the life in New York playing and recording with the symphony. But his heart is back home in Lavender Shores with the dirt under his fingernails and the man he loves nearby, even if he can’t have him in the open they still can rendezvous at their secret hideaway. “The Hideaway” is the long awaited story of the “adopted” brother, tattoo artist, Connor and his little “brother” Micah.
When I figured out that it was Micah that was Connor’s forever I had to gasp for a minute. I know Rosalind Abel has pushed the boundaries in other books of the series but wasn’t sure how she was going to pull this one off. I have to say, the worry was wasted! The book really called to me. To realize that the man for you is the brother your parents welcomed into your family had to have been so hard on Micah but he is a force to be reckoned with. When he knows what he wants he goes for it and Connor never stood a chance of it not happening! And that made my heart sing like Micah’s violin strings.
I must say, this book made me hold my breath a few times. But it was so well written and gratifying that the bit of angst I was experiencing was well worth it. As always, it is so nice to reconnect with the men of the previous books. It was great to see Seth, the bartender from the B & B. I hope that he find someone that deserves him. But I will say, Gilbert surprised me the most. I will share that the last couple paragraphs of the book brought tears to my eyes.
It’s no surprise to anyone that I wait, sometimes impatiently, for my next book in the Lavender Shores series each month since I discovered this fabulous series. That being said, I have to say that my heart dropped when I heard that there are five more books planned that might not ever be written/published. That would be a travesty! I have fallen for this series and feel that the author has captured my mind and my heart with these books. She is not afraid of pushing the buttons on society’s norms! Whether it is marrying your ex-brother-in-law that you have lusted over for years, having a self proclaimed town slut who shutters at the word school marry a teacher, have parents that live and speak openly and outside the box, or falling in love with your brother that the family adopted, this author goes all out to make sure the unconventional is not only accepted but the norm. I absolutely love this series and would be devastated if it doesn’t continue! Please help me share this series to all of the readers out there that love men who fall in love with their man, no matter how unorthodox or against society’s norms they are!
