TITLE: Ten in the Bin
AUTHOR: N.R. Walker
PUBLISHER: Self-Published
LENGTH: 47 Pages
BLURB:
Heartbroken, Dean Cartwright leaves Sydney and heads home, to the coastal town of Newcastle. In a bid to make new friends, he signs up for a local rugby league team where he meets a man known as Macca.
Dean and Macca are both front row forwards, meaning they’re the biggest guys on the team. Over six feet tall and over a hundred kilos each, they’re a force to be reckoned with.
But when Dean gets knocked out, Macca gets even by punching the other guy, and both Dean and Macca end up on the sideline.
Dean soon realizes that being knocked unconscious is the best thing to ever happen to him.
REVIEW:
I chose this story for a Flashback Friday review because it is one of my favorite short stories. I really, really, really wish that the author would revisit it though and turn it into a full length novel. There is sooooo much more I want to know about Dean and Macca! Before I go any further, I have to tell you that the cover of this book sold it to me. I’m not above choosing a book by the hottie on the cover!
I love stories about rugby players. When I was stationed at RAF St. Mawgan in Cornwall, I played Wing for the base rugby team as the token American. I was small and could run fast. I knew nothing about rugby, but I had fun trying. I can honestly say, playing rugby is the only time in my life I can actually remember seeing stars. Someone the size of Dean or Macca ran right over me and I just laid on the field! I saw those stars again when Dean took out the winger in this story! Thanks for the memory! 😉
So I’ll admit I was predisposed to loving this story because of the subject matter. But the story itself earning its rating when it pulled me in and kept me flipping pages until suddenly they were gone. 🙁 As I said above…I want MORE!
I highly recommend if you haven’t read this story that you pick it up and give it a read. On Amazon US it is only 99 cents, as it is on ARe. Best use of a buck that I can think of! I think it was the first N.R. Walker work I ever read, and I haven’t stopped reading her books since! Stay tuned over the next three weeks when I’ll be bringing you Flashback Friday reviews on the Blind Faith Series books!

Thanks! Macca is my favorite character in the story as well.
I loved this, i must have read it a dozen times since i bought it.
And it’s by NR Walker one of my favorite authors. She really can tell a story and i don’t think i have ever been disapointed by her writing. I agree i would also love a follow up or a full book of Ten in the Bin.
Glad you agree Angela! Maybe if enough of us ask for a full book we’ll get one!
