REVIEW:
In the thirteenth installment of Wayne County Wolves, Alec’s Moon, we meet omega Alec and fox shifter psychiatrist Michi. Alec lives with his childhood pack of wolves headed by what seems to be an immature and stupid alpha named Clint. Clint’s idea of security is hanging fake ADT alarm signs around their perimeter and not training any member of the pack to fight. The betas are lazy and eat junk food while playing video games all day. The omegas are taught that they are supposed to just sit and look pretty while tending to the needs of the Alpha and his betas. But despite all that Alec is happy, he has his brother Snow, his parents, cousin Shadow, and a few friends. All that changes when his pack is attacked and what follows is nothing but a massacre. The alpha is torn apart, and most of the pack slaughtered. Alec is captured by the slavers and if they have their way he would be sold as a sex slave. But before that can happen he is saved by assassins and brought to the Alpha Chris’s pack. His brother and cousin have no trouble acclimating but Alec not so much. He doesn’t know where he may fit in and he hasn’t really allowed himself to grieve over the loss of his pack. Chris has seen enough and brings in psychiatrists to help Alec and the few others that are having trouble as well.
Michi is a fox shifter psychiatrists and his brother is North. Though they may look similar they are as different as night and day. North is more rigid while Michi is more flashy and down to earth. Michi doesn’t mind coming to the wolves pack, truthfully its more his speed anyway. Finding Alec there he is dismayed that he finds his patient attractive and it seems it is mutual. But he can’t cross that patient/client line or can he? The more Michi learns about Alec, the more he wants him and the bond between them is instant. Michi recognizes Alec as his mate right away. He wants to help Alec come to terms with what has happened and grieve. But Alec isn’t making it too easy for him but despite that Michi is determined even if it makes him cross the line.
This was a somewhat short but cute addition to the series. Alec was a snarky hot mess. It was clear that he had no clue what to do with his life and a lot of that was based on the fact that he was coddled for most of it. He might not have had the best of things but he was always looked out for and led to believe as an omega he had no real worthwhile value to the pack. Although it was sad to see his home pack massacred I think it served as a wakeup call to the surviving members especially Alec. Michi although cool seemed to have a case of brother envy. Every other sentence was about comparing himself to his brother North and how he wasn’t good enough. Truth be told I think he needed a bit of therapy himself. I didn’t really like how fast they got together. I know that sometimes it goes that way but I felt that it left it a little unfinished and wrapped up way too neatly. I don’t think finding himself a mate would magically make Alec one hundred percent better. It was kind of like putting a band aid on a bleeding wound and although he grieved a little bit I know his issues are not solved. But all in all it was a good story and it was good to see how things are progressing in the pack. Definitely a worthwhile read for faithful readers of the series.
