BLURB:
Aspiring writer Brent Granger has good friends and a great job at an arts magazine in DC, but he’s batting zero in the arena of love. Brent begins to get a clue why things aren’t working with women from his strong attraction to his gorgeous, gay, and already attached boss, Graham Stoneford. When he sees a personal ad from a man that quotes his favorite poet, Brent decides to do something wild and answer.
Enter Cody Bellstrom, easygoing bisexual musician, who is happy to initiate Brent in the ways of gay sex. Brent now has a new problem: he realizes he’s gay and no one in his life knows it. Cody tires of hiding their relationship, but Brent finds it challenging to come out to family, friends, and especially to Graham. In the end, Brent must confront the truth of where—and with whom—his heart lies.
REVIEW:
Brent Granger never considered that his love life might be so miserable because he’s been dating women when what he really wants is a man. He acknowledges that he has a “thing” for his boss, Graham, but he admires him in so many different ways the sexual attraction just casually blends in with all the rest. Graham has a boyfriend and Brent isn’t gay anyway, so Brent forces himself to be satisfied when the two men become good friends. But when Brent’s attraction to Graham starts to grow stronger he decides he needs to take action and answers a male seeking male ad on Match.com, which is when he meets Cody. Cody who is hot and fun and happy to assist Brent in exploring his newfound attraction to men.
In general I’m not a fan of love triangles because you know that someone is likely to end up heartbroken and alone. Although this story isn’t quite a love triangle it has characters that are attracted to other people while in committed relationships. I’d read a couple of other reviews on this story before starting so I knew going in who Brent was going to end up with and, I must admit, that I’m glad I knew. But that’s just me. I’m one of those people who often peeks at the end because I really hate nasty surprises. I didn’t want to have my heart set on Brent with one man only to find out he ends up with the other. I was impressed that the author didn’t take the easy way out by making one of the men an asshole who deserves to end up alone. I really liked Graham and Cody both for Brent and I doubt that I’ll be completely satisfied until the man who ends up single at the end of this book gets his own HEA. I don’t want to tell you who that is but if you really want to know I promise the info isn’t hard to find.
From the moment Cody and Brent meet they are in each other’s pants. The sex in the book is hot enough yet the scenes are kept fairly brief and most of it is off page. So while we know that Cody and Brent are constantly at it like bunnies, Brent’s “exploration” of his sexuality doesn’t slow down the snappy pacing of the story.
I was definitely impressed that the author managed to fit such a complete, well written story into eighty pages.
