Today, Dec. 6th, is Nikolaus in Germany, an exciting day for the kids.
Nikolaus is an elderly, stately and serious man with white hair and a long, full beard. He traditionally wears a bishop’s vestments and holds a gold-coloured crosier, a long ceremonial shepherd’s staff with a fancy curled top. Nowadays there are more and more Nikolaus, though, who are wearing the typical red clothes of Santa Claus.
Nikolaus carries a big book that tells whether each child has been good or naughty in the past year.
The good children get a little present. He usually brings tangerines, nuts and other little things. If the Nikolaus doesn’t visit personally, he leaves the goodies in a shoe or sock the children put in front of their door the evening before Dec. 6.
Accompanying him is Knecht Rupprecht, who threatens to put the naughty kids in the big bag he carries with him. He also has a birch rod, which he used to use on the naughty kids in the previous centuries. Now it’s just for show. Mostly. 🙂

Blurb:
When work requires Ryan to leave behind warm and sunny Arizona for cold and snowy Germany, he decides to visit the famous Nuremberg Christmas Market where he meets sexy Julian.
But Julian isn’t an average guy, he’s a Dom. And he wants Ryan to be his sub.
That’s something Ryan has dreamt of, but never admitted to anyone, not even himself. With Julian it suddenly becomes possible.
But what happens once Ryan has to go home, especially since he’s developing feelings for Julian?
There isn’t a future for a relationship if you’re half a world apart…
The other man saved me. He extended his hand. “I’m Julian.”
I shook it. “I’m Ryan. It’s nice to meet you again.”
He released my hand way too fast for me to enjoy the contact. “Likewise. And you don’t have to buy bratwurst in order to do that.”
I laughed. “They, um, taste quite special.”
“Nicely said. I know how they taste. My uncle is the owner of the stall, and I keep telling him they don’t taste good, but he doesn’t believe me.” Julian paused and ran a hand through his hair. “Anyways, do you want to drink a Gluehwein—um, you say mulled wine, I think?”
“With you? Yeah, I’d like that.” Damn, my face heated up again. Julian just asked me about getting something to drink together, and I started glowing like a teen seeing his first crush. The man was sexy as fuck, but he might be more interested if I didn’t blush at every opportunity.
I put my hands back in my pockets to keep them from getting frozen and followed Julian. Out of the corner of my eye, I watched him. The dark hair and blue eyes, I’d already noticed. The smile, too. What I hadn’t anticipated was for him to be about my height. He’d looked taller when he’d been standing in the booth.

An Extra good reason to buy this book this month is that Chris is donating a part of the royalties of December’s sales to Lost-n-Found Youth in Atlanta!!
Chris McHart is from Germany and while an accountant, writing is Chris’s real passion. Chris likes to spend time with family and has way too many animals that demand constant attention. Chris also enjoys landscaping and cooking.
Whenever Chris has a free minute, it’s spent writing on a laptop, a cup of coffee in hand, deeply lost in the world Chris’s muses have created.

Answer this question: Have you ever heard of the Nikolaus?
In terms of St Nicholas, I have heard of Nikolaus that way
As… Saint Nicholas? Then yes.
Thanks for the giveaway!
never heard of Nikolaus before…
Yes,if we’re talking about St. Nicholas.
I’m sure I’ve heard him mentioned in “Christmas around the world” descriptions, but not lengthily!
No I’ve never heard of Nikolaus.
No I’ve never heard of Nikolaus. Would love to read more about it!
I have heard of St. Nicholas. In fact, my parents and my Catholic schools always did something small for St. Nicholas’s day. It was a small treat while waiting for Christmas.
I am European so I have heard of Nikolaus and his companion Knecht Rupprecht (servant Rupert) and I think from what I remember Knecht Rupprecht used to hit the naughty children over the head with a bag of ashes, which in later stories became the bag that horrible gifts (like coal) was used to take and leave as presents instead for the naughty ones 🙂
Seasonal Greetings and thank you for a chance to win a copy of Grenzen
