BLURB: This new adult, male/male romance will capture the audience who fell in love with Nyrae Dawn’s Games Trilogy.

For the love of the game.

Brandon Chase has always defined himself by one thing: football. Tough and athletic, he is a great college player who enjoys the hard hits and the sweaty grind of the gridiron. But when Brandon is injured, only one person can help him get back on track-a forbidden love he’s desperately tried to put behind him.

Alec Andrews has never quite forgiven Brandon for walking away when their friendship turned into something more. But he can’t deny help to one of his closest friends. As the two spend the long, hot summer working together, their old attraction comes flooding back.

Now as Alec thinks about coming out to his conservative family and Brandon considers revealing he’s a gay football player, the two men must be strong to fight for a love that could be the greatest rush of their lives.

REVIEW:

“He gives me a rush being on the field never can.”

I’ve really been waiting for this and then I finally have this book, and it was a ride! I really enjoyed reading it. This book just hits the right emotional buttons for me. There’s just this connection between me and the book. Maybe because I can really relate to the story. Been there and done that but still there.

Brandon and Alec’s friendship started when Brandon’s family visited The Village, the cabins owned by Alec’s family. Summer after summer they soon realized that what they have is more than just friendship. It’s something more. But they are afraid to call what it is. They just know that people thinks it’s wrong. So they keep it to themselves.

But the truth is powerful to be kept in the closet. They have to deal what they are feeling for each other and this second time around they are determined not to walk away from each other.

This book is just full of raw emotions. I love the characters of Alec and Brandon. I totally get where they are coming from. And it was hard. Wanting something you won’t fully let yourself have because of the fear that your own family will not look at you the same way again. Thinking that it’s wrong. So you derived yourself of that happiness.

And I see myself in both of them. Alec, he is in the closet but he knows that someday he will come out of that. He’s just afraid of his prick of a father would think of him (And I agree with him too. At the end of the day he is still his father). While Brandon, he tried to fight it. He walk away once but he is determined not to do it again.

The writing is good. I love the dual point of view. Just the right pace for me and it is light and easy to understand. The journey of the main characters is beautiful. There are many sweet moments in the book too. Some lines I consider cheesy (Ha-ha). I think I am going to use it to someone I fancy (lol).

All in all, totally enjoyable. I just love this one. There’s truth in the story because somewhere out there some teenagers are going through the same thing. This is my first read from the author and I look forward for more.
