Making a ménage work
One of the things that made me most nervous about writing BROKEN PIECES was the fact that the book is a ménage, HEA. I can remember a time when I didn’t really read any ménages because I just didn’t see how it could work. Then I started to read a few, and found a handful of authors who I go to for ménage because they make me believe it. That’s the key, in my opinion, and before starting BROKEN PIECES I wasn’t sure I could do that.
An author’s muse is a funny thing though because Josiah, Tristan and Mateo simply wouldn’t leave me alone. They wanted their story told. They needed their story told.
There’s a balance I tried to keep while I wrote the book. I think to make it work, the people involved have to be three equal parts—three different pieces that somehow fit together. Without that equality amongst the three, the balance is out of whack, you feel like one person is left out, or that the love amongst some is stronger than that with the others. It’s a hard line to toe, and there was a lot of deleting and rewriting. I really wanted to try and make sure the three men individually brought something different to the relationship, some vital piece that was needed to make them complete. There were things that Teo could give Josiah, that Tristan couldn’t, and things Tristan gave him that Mateo couldn’t. They needed to have differences but similarities too so the reader could hopefully understand how each of them could fall for the other. These things felt important for me to make those three individual pieces fit together to create a whole. I have no idea if I pulled it off or not but that’s what I shot for.
Blurb:
Can three broken pieces make a whole?
Josiah Evans is the orphan who lost both his parents. He’s sweet, shy, and all heart. He wants nothing more than to be loved.
Mateo Sanchez is the son of a gang leader. He’s seen it all, and never hesitates to do what needs to be done, no matter what it is.
Tristan Croft is the wealthy attorney who clawed his way up from the bottom to rule his own world. He’ll never depend on anyone but himself again.
Three men who couldn’t be more different…and yet, as their lives intersect they find an uncommon balance that calms the storms inside each of them, and ignites fires hotter than they ever thought imaginable.
Told in three parts and spanning over ten years, BROKEN PIECES is a journey of healing for three fragmented souls, finding love in the unlikeliest of places—with each other.

love this book/////
I’m looking forward to reading this one!! I loved Collide
I like that this spans 10 years and the relationship has time to work put the downs and the ups
You definitely need to be able to understand the connection in a menage. If not written well, it just feels like it’s written for the sake of it being a menage. Sounds like it’s going to be a good story. I like a nice span of time like that, too.
Thanks so much everyone!
I’ve never been a fan of menage, for the same reasons you gave. Maybe I should give it a try.

Fell in love with your character with Collide (can;t wait for the next book). They are even better in Broken Pieces. You feel as if you are a part of their lives. The emotion you go through while reading the guys story I just can’t describe. I can’t wait to read more about these wonderful people.
This was a great book!! I love all three of these characters, they are all different but each needs the other. You did a great job!!
Riley is right about the balance that needs to be there for a menage to work or be truly believable and I loved that she didn’t shy from the harder to quantify emotional problems rather than focus on the physical ones.. Broken Peices grabbed me and kept me there for every word.
This is s intriguing! Please count me in!
