Guest Blogger: Kindle Alexander

I took this monthly blog post as more as a challenge to myself than anything. I find bloggers fascinating, but I find reviewers extraordinary. To come up with something fresh and relevant day in and day out is mind-bottling. You know, when your mind is stuck in a bottle. See? Not fresh or relevant, just me laughing at my computer!

Bloggers seem to have a little more room to find fresh content than reviewers. Reviewers read books all the time and yet still have the ability to continue writing original, entertaining reviews every single day. I’ve gone back and read many reviews by the same reviewer and none of the content of that review is the same. How Do You Do That?

Even as I sit at my computer right now, I’m trying to find something entertaining to say. I prefer entertaining over lecture any day of the week, but every time I do this, my mind goes blank. The even more funny part is that on a normal day, people get sick of my come-backs. I always find humor. Do you want to know the topics I’ve come up to talk about in this post? The Dallas Flu outbreak… The Charlie Wilson concert that I’m doing the flowers for – really, who is Charlie Wilson? Right. And Chris Christi’s highway deal – All knee slapping topics. *rolls eyes*

OH! Okay, I have a new book coming out soon. It’s called Always. *smiles at the shameless plug* The story is defined as a love story. *smiles at the shameless plug, again* In researching for the book (it has a small political feel) I found that Minnesota (great state) had the first openly gay Senator. Did you know that? His name was Allan H. Spears and he came out gay in the 70’s while in office. He was then re-elected through 2000. Isn’t that cool? Minnesota is such a great state. And anyone reading this, if you know who the first openly gay legislator was in the nation, please let me know, because apparently he wasn’t the first.

I have a theory. I’ve said this a lot, but I’m saying it publically here. I believe Sam Houston and Davy Crocket were lovers. I do. It’s a long story, but as I walked the Alamo and spent time in the air conditioned museum, I read everything there was on the battle of the Alamo, because seriously, who goes to the Alamo in July – it was 105 degrees outside.

What I found was not what I knew. I didn’t even have to read between the lines. Sam Houston took vengeance out on Mexico after Davy Crocket’s death. It wasn’t a ‘I’m coming for you’ deal. Sam Houston attacked Santa Anna with a force that he put together, and planned, and executed with stealth grace and fury.  History is made of these kinds of attacks based on men defending their women. In my heart, I truly believe Sam was defending Davy. I’m determined to figure all that out. That would mean the entire southwest portion of our country was based on gay love. *smiles* Isn’t that dreamy?

Have a good weekend everyone! Thank you for letting me be here!
