Minor league goalie Adam Seiger is a nice guy. He’s kind, cute, and a little quirky (but show me a goalie who isn’t) and he loves to interact with fans. During a meet and greet after a game Adam meets Cason Reyes, a hard-working young man with stunning amber eyes and a smile as sweet as a candy cane. Desperate to see Cason again, Adam does something more than a little naughty.
To add insult to the egg nog, it appears that one little white lie may end Adam’s chance of having a merry Christmas with a new boyfriend. Will he end up with nothing but a lump of coal in his stocking, instead of the man who owns his heart?
I have to say I spent the entire time reading this story smiling my ass off. Adam Seiger is a hilarious character and I loved this story so much. It was just so much fun to read.
From the moment that Adam sees Cason Reyes he is smitten. Which is probably why he has the absolutely boneheaded idea to invent a totally fictional children’s Christmas party to invite Cason and his nephew to. Instead of, I don’t know, asking the man out for coffee and kisses. Now Adam has to plan a party, somehow convince his teammates to help him get people to show up, and prove to Cason that it was totally not a lie and that Adam is not a lying liar with his hockey pants on fire.
Too bad he has about as much chance of pulling it all off as the Liefs do of winning the Cup.
This was an absolute gem of a story. Adam was completely adorable in that way crazy goalies are, and his attempts (and many many failures) to get himself out of his self-knotted web of lies was a blast to read.
I would have loved to read more about Adam and Cason, though this story was very well written and I didn’t come to the end feeling like much was missing. I just had fun reading it and wished there could have been more. The two of them had this very adorable chemistry going on and their dates were great. Even when getting cock-blocked by elderly relatives.
As far as I am concerned this is a great holiday and hockey short and recommend you pick it up if you get the chance.
