BLURB:
When I catch Zach cheating at my family’s casino, I should have him thrown out. Instead, I’m drawn to his sexy smile, his reckless confidence, and the way he looks at me like I’m more than another mafia heir playing at power. When he offers to turn his skills to my advantage, I break all the rules and let him stay.
I’ve spent years trying to prove I’m more than the spoiled playboy my family expects. With a Russian trafficker seeking revenge on us, I need control—not temptation. But Zach awakens desires I’ve buried for too long. Risk. Danger. Submission.
The closer we get, the harder it is to ignore the truth: Zach isn’t just a grifter. When he saves my life and exposes himself as a government agent, our alliance becomes a deadly secret. He needs me to complete his mission. I need him to survive my world—and to finally claim my place in it.
For Zach, I may be just another mark—a role he’s played a dozen times before. He’s a master at faking attraction for the sake of the mission, but even when I learn he’s questioning everything he thought he knew about himself, I can’t walk away.
Protecting him could destroy me. Falling for him already has.
In a world of blood, power, and betrayal, loving the wrong man might be the most dangerous gamble of all.
REVIEW:
This series seems to be wrapping up with Rafe’s story, the third brother in this mafia family. Rafe has been the player, wanting nothing to do with the settling down, finding love, etc. that his brothers have found. He is the baby of the family and he is on a mission to prove himself worthy of trust and responsibility. His job is running the casino, which he seems to be pretty good at. The family is still trying to track down and take care of the Ivanov issue, and things are getting fishy at the casino. Thinking Ivanov is coming after the family by going after the weakest link, Rafe is even more determined to figure things out and take care of business.
This is where Zach comes in. He is an undercover FBI agent on a case to take down Ivanov as well. And, if it brings down the Theriot brothers as well, he is all for it. He, too, tries to infiltrate the casino scene, specifically, the underground heavy hitter card players. He then makes it his mission to seduce Rafe to get the information he needs, as well as to determine whether or not the Theriots are working with Ivanov.
As you can imagine, Zach and Rafe get closer, have great chemistry and generally seem perfect for each other. Trust issues aside, they decide to pair up and work together to get Ivanov. Things go ok until Zach is taken by Ivanov and Rafe must pull in the entire family to help. What ensues is Rafe struggling to prove himself to the family and to Zach as well, as they try and work out a way for them to actually be together. Zach has always pushed the envelope, but being in a relationship with an actual criminal they had previously been after is a bit of a roadblock. Luckily, he doesn’t take long to figure out his life path and that thankfully includes being with Rafe.
I loved finally seeing Rafe’s story and how the family dynamics all played out. There is a bit more to things on a higher up level with X being involved and how he fits into the picture, and I’m glad the Ivanov situation has been taken care of. I’m a bit sad to see this one come to an end, as I really enjoyed getting to know these brothers. I’ll continue to be on the lookout for more from Ms. Violet in the future.
