BLURB:

Landon Smith’s life has imploded in a dramatic fashion. Following a devastating betrayal, his brother is marrying his fiancé, and his family wants him to get over it already. The only way he can move forward? Fleeing across the country and cutting contact with them, starting his life over with a new job and new friends. Well, no friends, really.

But a new coworker introduces him to a whole new circle of people, including the alluring Dean St. James. The lyrics Dean writes speak directly to Landon’s heart, but Landon’s not ready to jump into another relationship, and Dean brings his own baggage to the table.

A brutal illness stole Dean’s childhood sweetheart, and with the walls he put up to survive, he’s not sure he’ll ever love again. But a fresh project sparks Landon’s lost passion and opens a door to a future Dean turned his back on.

Their unexpected collab has the highest stakes of all: the last hope of healing two broken hearts.

This novella is set in the same world as Witchwolf, but features different characters and can be read as a standalone. It was originally published on the authors’ Patreon page.

REVIEW:

Landon is sweet and kind and kind of fed up with life. So he takes a deep breath and gets started on a new one. Leaving behind the ashes of his past was hard but just maybe fate has better things in store for him.

Dean feels like he’s lost. Everything he thought his life would be seems to be slipping away but then a fresh new perspective seems to find him.

These two men are facing similar problems and together they find a way to face them.

This is a very cute story. Set in the Witchwolf universe, we get to meet some of the people who work for Jax and the werewolf community we met in that story.

Landon and Dean are adorable together and their instant chemistry really worked for this story. I love how the people around them rallied around them and helped them find themselves and each other.

This is a very low angst story. I kept waiting for the “big thing” but it never really came. It’s just two men who finally find the love they deserve and if low angst is your thing, you are going to love it. The characters are easy to relate to and even easier to cheer for.

My only complaint is that it’s a bit on the short side. I personally would have loved a little more of the angst but once again, that is a personal preference. These two authors always make me happy, and you can’t blame me for wanting more when I love the characters.

There’s not too much more I can say without spoiling things, but if you are looking to kill a couple hours and know you are going to end up happy and smiling, this is definitely the story for you.
