Mason has always known one truth: as an omega, his life is never fully his own.
So when two struggling wolf packs decide to merge, and promise Mason in marriage to secure the deal, he knows exactly what waits for him. A future owned by a man who sees omegas as property, not people.
Refusing to accept a bond he never chose, Mason makes a reckless claim—he’s already promised to his human best friend, Kip. It’s supposed to be a lie, to buy them time. But the packs demand proof, and suddenly, Mason and Kip are forced to play the part.
What begins as a desperate deception turns into something neither of them expected. Kip becomes the steady, protective Dominant Mason never thought he’d have. Mason becomes the one thing Kip didn’t know he was missing.
For the first time, love feels safe—until Mason is attacked and left for dead.
As danger closes in and secrets refuse to stay buried. Mason’s bond is tested by blood and fear, and survival is no longer guaranteed.
And Kip?
He’s been hiding something powerful—something that could change everything between them.
If it doesn’t destroy them first.
A dark fantasy MM romance filled with lies that turn real, bonds built on choice, and love worth fighting for.
REVIEW:
It must be my year for loving shifter stories. Another fantastic collaboration from KC Wells and Parker Williams. Just a heads up that this story does include Dominant/Submissive scenes. But that is to be expected as we are dealing with Alpha and Omega shifters in this brilliantly crafted story.
The worldbuilding in this story is spectacular, dark, and fantastical. I loved it. Small town friends hiding secrets from each other, plus the addition of the shifter world is just up my alley.
K.C. and Parker have crafted very in-depth and detailed main characters, in addition to the side characters for this dark fantasy. Even their side characters are special in their own ways – not always good ways, mind you. Mason and Kip are our main characters and boy do they have some secrets they don’t want to share with the other. And the side characters in this one, some of them had me gnashing my teeth in some of the scenes. I always wonder if it’s ok to jump in the scene and handle the bad guy, lol.
This fantastically crafted story takes us on a huge roller coaster from beginning to end. Our boys, Mason and Kip, meet as children and I appreciate this story addressing their backstories from the get-go. It made everything just flow for me. Of course, we have the underlying sub texts with this story. Mason, our omega, while he’s highly coveted, he’s not given much respect. Then we have Kip, our dominant friend of Mason is looked down on for just being human. Due to circumstances beyond Mason’s control, he’s been “given” to the son of the Alpha from another town. This is where the story gets real and interesting. I won’t elaborate much, spoilers you know.
Will Mason reveal his secret to Kip? Will Kip reveal his secret to Mason? Will Kip embrace being a Dominant for Mason? Will a certain side character get his comeuppance? You guys know I am not going to tell you. You need to read this book and find out all the juicy bits for yourself.
I highly recommend this new series from K.C. and Parker. You need to snatch this book up from your favorite eBook site as quickly as possible. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Till next time…
