Against all odds and after years of searching, selkie Winston has finally found his mate, the sweet and sassy Henri. There’s only one problem. Okay, so there may be more than one problem.
When Henri’s best friend mated a selkie, he couldn’t have been happier. Unless…he were lucky enough to find his own fated mate. But someone crushed his soul once before and he’s not sure he can ever trust again.
Winston has held his best friend to the earth for decades, keeping him from destroying himself through loneliness and reckless behavior. Now Gregory is mated to Daniel, Winston can search the seven seas for his mate. But there is no need to search–his mate shows up –in Gregory’s wedding party! Henri flirts but a wall of reserve seems to separate the French omega from the selkie who recognizes him as his mate.
Henri and Winston must unravel the tangled past before they can achieve their long overdue Happily Ever After.
Slow burn (for omegaverse, if you know what I mean); hurt-comfort; fated mates
The Selkie’s Mate is book 2 of the Waves of Fate series. It is best read after book 1, The Selkie’s Coat.

“Now, Henri, tell me something about yourself. Did you grow up in France?” “Oui, I spent most of my time there. Like you, I lost a parent very young, my mother. My father moved here to start a new business and a new life. I stayed in boarding schools in France and spent my summers on the beaches here.” “Must have been nice.” I scoff. “I was a spoiled brat, but I had plenty of fun.” I pause to sip my coffee, my brain continually spinning over why the successful and beautiful seal shifter would want to consort with me. Oui, I am quite pretty and fun, but Winston exudes confidence and power. Once I was full of confidence and belief in my own power… so long ago the time seems now. Having finished my croissant, I begin a new thread of conversation. “I am twenty-nine years old.” I wink at the selkie. “We may have an age gap. A significant one.” I giggle, and Winston’s deep chuckle joins in. “Are you worried about it?” He arches his eyebrow, and I am overwhelmed by a desire to bite his lip. My response is lost in the surge of my desire for him, and he frowns. “Is it a concern for you?” he asks again, his voice more serious now. “Non.” I wave the idea away, out of our presence. “Of course not. You distracted me.” “Me? I distracted you from… me?” Laughing, I give him a faux scowl. “Yes, you distracted me from yourself. Do not attempt it again, you naughty selkie.” His brilliant grin threatens to divert my attention again. His tongue darts out of his mouth and he licks his lips. I narrow my eyes. “So naughty, trying to derail my thoughts on purpose. Whatever will I do with you?” “Ice cream!” he exclaims enthusiastically, before blushing at the volume of his own voice. “I mean, Gregory recommended an ice cream vendor not far from here.” Glancing at his watch, he looks up with a frown. “Not at this moment, unfortunately. I suspect you are due at your restaurant soon.” “My father’s,” I correct absentmindedly. I do not wish to leave Winston’s warm presence. He holds up a finger. “Non, Henri. It is yours now.” Sighing, I roll my eyes. “Oui, I did not forget. Not that I like to admit it, but the stress of the change has been more than I expected. And what with the hang-up calls—” “Hang-up calls?” Winston’s selkie speaks through his throat, sending a thrill through me. I wave off his concern. “It is nothing. Probably someone who thinks it funny to call random numbers and breathe into the telephone.” I laugh, my anxiety about the strange calls dissipating as I describe them to Winston. The selkie does not look convinced, and not so secretly, I am pleased. “If you need me to come guard your office, all you need do is ask.” Flirtatiously, I fan myself. “Do not tempt me.” “I would love nothing better than to tempt you, dear Henri.”
