Hudson is a 21 years old guy who’s been dealing with his abusive mother his whole year. She’s a narcissistic woman who’s never loved him nor has taken proper care of him; she let her past boyfriends be mean with him and she’s always been interested solely on money. Hudson finds stability and acceptance for the first time in his life when his mother marries Kreed, a very wealthy man who immediately gives Hudson the care and the safety he needs, both emotional and physical.
Hudson has always been grateful to Hudson but at 18, when he was about to leave for college, his feelings changed into something deeper and more raw: since the night he found out Kreed is not straight, Hudson has been irremediably in love with him. Now, 3 years later, he’s determined to finally get him and make him his.
Hudson comes back home for Thanksgiving with his best friend Corvus, after the two of them concocted a plan to ruin Kreed’s marriage.
My favourite parts of this story are definitely when Kreed’s protective feelings towards Hudson come to the surface: first, when he gets sick, and then when he understands the whole extent of his wife’s neglect towards her own son and finally takes action to protect Hudson and, at the same time, stops to resist him and decides to surrender to his own feelings.
What prevented me from giving a higher rate:
I crave romance and I wouldn’t have minded having more loving moments between them, but overall it was an enjoyable read.
I liked Corvus, Hudson’s best friend, very much and I adored how the story progressed for the three of them. The epilogue was very beautiful and I appreciated that the author included Corvus too.
I hope she will also consider giving him his own HEA.
