BLURB:
Taking self-love to a whole new dimension…
August Blackthorne:
Pitifully broke? Check.
Fresh from a messy breakup? Check.
The apparent object of some weirdo stalker’s affection? Unfortunately, also check.
But everything changes when I finally get the chance to confront the guy who’s been terrorising me, only to discover that he’s actually… me. From a parallel universe. A smarter, more confident, sexy quantum physicist version of me.
And for some reason, he wants my help.
You’d think a super genius like him could find a better way to say hi, wouldn’t you?
August Blackthorne (the other one):
This was supposed to be simple: find the version of me in this reality, put our two genius brains together, and fix the problem I’ve created. Only this August isn’t a quantum physicist like I am. He’s a body-building, music-loving, karate-teaching absolute sweetheart.
And I’m falling hard for him. The kind of hard that could destroy the universe. Because unless we can find a way to undo this mess, his whole existence will be torn apart, atom by atom, him included.
But when he finds out who I really am, and what I’ve done, I know he’ll never want to see me again.
How am I supposed to save the universe when doing it will destroy the one person I truly care about?
Doppelbänger is the mind-bending, world-ending, utterly outrageous, action-packed, spicy sci-fi MM rom-com of your most warped daydreams. The ultimate story of self-love, weird science, and romance that defies the barriers of time and space, HEA guaranteed.
REVIEW:
The first sentence felt like a nod to the Narcissus myth and I was wholly hooked to the story. What ensued was a hilarious ride which literally had me laughing out loud. The inner dialogue, the banter, the situations are fast witty luring you into this world of events the author builds that you glow along with in effortless ease.
Then things start to get real, slowly hints of what we may not as a reader know start dropping, oh I loved how @wh lays the story out. There is so much emotion packed in with the absurd circumstances these two men attracted to each other find themselves in. And even though the author did at one point say they wouldn’t hurt me, some parts of this books made me tear up so much 😭. Specially the handcuff scene – that tore me up 😭😭😭and the portal jump, omg good August is so good 😭😭😭
This Richard Bach ish portal fiction travel time travel adventure was an absolute utter disconnect from MY reality and a joy to read – will 💯 recommend
At one point I pumped my fist in the air going aha I KNEW IT!!
I loved the my world is better than your world debate 🤣
Also the touch him and die theme merges with the destroyer of worlds and we have epic swoon and romance spilling off the pages. Did I mention there is interdimensional s3x of the world ending variety – no little death for these cuties only massive destruction!
We also have an avengers assemble moment without the clicky thing and a tonne of OH LORD IN HEAVEN OH SH1$ moments. The acceleration towards what can only be described as the vortex of doom keeps you on the edge of your seat – I mean could things get worse, probably, possibly, definitely
Then there’s the HEA (this is not spoiler this is a romance) the epicists of swoon. I do have to say I loved August and his end game and his HEA (😉) here – you’ll get what I mean when you get there this sentence is at least 6 hints!!
highly recommend this insane ride through the multiverse, you will be thoroughly entertained, and completely invested and have a blast.
