BLURB:
They brought me into the house to take care of him.
Viktor Morozov.
The Bratva Prince we all believed to be dead.
Instead, he’s locked away, injured, and very much alive.
Alive enough to touch me like I already belong to him, to control the room without moving, to make my body feel like it’s no longer my own.
The problem is, I’ve never been attracted to men.
Wanting him feels dangerous here.
Because someone inside this house wants him dead.
Viktor already knows.
And somehow, I do too.
That leaving was never part of the plan.
Under his control, I don’t know which of us is more captured.
Easy, right?
Try impossible…
REVIEW:
Viktor is the mafia heir who has been pushed down when his uncle took the throne from him. He is now making moves to regain control, but the uncle is not happy about it. He has his men create a shootout to capture the injured Viktor. Not wanting the optics of taking Viktor out, he instead chooses to try to break him via torture, which also doesn’t go as planned.
Meanwhile, Jonah is forced into the picture when his father can’t pay his debts. Jonah is tasked with taking care of Viktor and keeping him alive. As you can imagine, their connection and trust grows through their forced captivity.
Eventually, Viktor (and Jonah) are saved by Viktor’s crew and the tables get turned as they alter their plans to take over and now take out the evil uncle.
There is a bit more at play here with who is helping Viktor and how things will all turn out. Suffice to say, we get to know Viktor’s crew a bit more and definitely the bond between Viktor and Jonah as they navigate their future lives. Viktor is a bit of a wrecking ball where Jonah is concerned, as he wants what he wants and expects to get it, usually with Jonah unable to resist. Jonah’s life before Viktor seems to be pretty much over, but they work on carving out a new one where they are together and Jonah still has his nursing job.
I did struggle at times with Viktor. On the one hand, he seemed very young, as the rightful heir and with his interactions with Jonah. On the other hand, he was skilled and up for the job as head of the family in ways that made him seem older and more mature. This story pretty much wraps up nicely, although I would live to see more about the other guys, i.e. Lev and Nikolai. Hopefully, there is more to come in this story.
