Twenty-four hours. Get a signature. Maybe tell Finn off. Done.

Finn never expected to see his ex-boyfriend in the museum where he regularly performs original songs about a dead general and his bird obsession. He’s been hidden in the wilds of New York State, unable to move on from imploding his life. Now Theo is here, and Finn might be able to move on.

Except things don’t go as planned.

There are airings of bad feelings.

A bad fall.

Theo and Finn are stuck together.

Theo is dependent on Finn.

And the worst part is, it turns out they might not hate each other as much as they thought.

REVIEW:

Note:  This is the third book in this series and doesn’t really work as a standalone.  This book picks up exactly where the last book left off.  Please note that not everything is resolved in this book either and there will be another book coming 🙂

In the last book in this series, Theo Krebble is about to get his wildest dream – selling his show to a Broadway producer and having it actually made.  There’s just one thing standing in his way.  Getting his ex who he hasn’t seen in 14 years to sign off his rights.  The first attempt resulted in a hard “No”.  So Theo decides to take the bull by the horns and go directly to see Finn and force him to sign off and maybe give him a piece or two of his mind since Finn basically ran away and hid from him for the past 14 years.  But when he get there and finds Finn at his part time job, Finn doesn’t know what he’s talking about.  Apparently it wasn’t him to said NO to the initial request.

Finn is working as a roofer and part time at a local Revolutionary War era estate and museum.  This seems to fulfill the minor performance itch that has come back up in his life.  Theo is shocked to learn how much Finn’s life has changed.  Finn is STUNNED to see his ex at his place of employment.   Finn isn’t good at apologizing and he never thought he’d see Theo again.  He agrees to sign off and take a check, but then Theo is injured because there is a freak ice/snow storm.

Finn offers to take Theo home to his place in order to recover enough to return to NYC.  Theo’s family is apoplectic  about Theo seeing Finn let alone staying with him.  But it turns out that they do have some unfinished business.  Finn knows that he owes Theo an apology and an explanation.  At first it’s difficult for them to communicate, but the more time they spend together, the more their feelings surface.  And by the time Theo’s family shows up to get him, they are already back to something like their old ways 😉  And they are even collaborating on the rewrites for their show.

Upon returning to NYC, Finn  and his cat Penny end up staying with Theo still helping him recover from his injuries and also work on the show together.  Finn has sworn off performing but Theo knows he’s still an amazing talent and that he should keep hiding his light.  The two of them make a great team.  Despite Theo’s family’s misgivings, Theo realizes he never stopped loving Finn and Finn certainly never stopped loving Theo.  They were kids and the made mistakes.  Now if they can hopefully avoid the same mistakes this time around . . .

Oh I really enjoyed this latest installment in this series!  As a huge Broadway fan, I am so looking forward to see how this moves forward. I love Luca trying to help Finn and of course June making the course corrections 😉  Theo gets out of his own way here and it turns out all that therapy really has helped him 🙂  Harvey is a huge support for him and makes sure he doesn’t kill this career before it even takes off.  All the supporting characters are so well written – from cousin Marco and his fiance Ginger to Finn’s boss at the museum.  The way these two learned from their mistakes (well slowly) about how to be honest with each other hopefully bodes well for the future.  This is a HFN that I’m sure is going to lead to a spectacular HEA in the future in this series.  Bravo!!
