BLURB:

After my brothers in arms have all moved out, I’m suffering from a kind of empty nest syndrome. The only one left is Forest, Creek’s little brother.

Except he’s not that little. He’s seriously hot and sassy, and the way I dream about him is anything but brotherly.

But he’s too young for me, too innocent. Too…perfect. He doesn’t need a man with my kind of baggage.

When he gets sick, I’m there for him, even when he allows no one else in.

I will do anything to take care of him…and that includes marrying him so he’ll have health insurance.

But when fake becomes real, I don’t know what to do. Forest may need me, but how do I explain to him that I need him just as much?

Nash is the fourth book in the Honorably Discharged Series, which can be read as standalones but are much more fun read in order.

REVIEW:

I love this series. My heart may have beaten a little faster with excitement when I saw the email with the book attached. A mixture of anticipation because I really wanted to read Nash’s book and also a little sadness because I expect this is going to be the last one in this very good series.

This is the fourth book in this co-authored series about a group of veteran soldiers who are all hurt in different ways following an accidental explosion on the army base where they stationed. Unlike the previous books where the four soldiers all live together in a shared house owned by Nash, this book opens with Tameron moving out . Bean and Creek have already moved out.  Nash is a little lost, but he still has one roommate, Forest, Creek’s younger brother.
Forest has moved to the area to start a new job after he found himself struggling with brain fog and physical weakness in his old role. He thinks this is down to stress so has moved to be closer to his brother and to a different job. With rents being so high in the area, renting a room at a reduced rate from Nash, in his big house, is a no brainer. However, as Forest’s symptoms get worse, he is unable to hide them from Nash. When Forest finds himself without health insurance Nash knows the sensible thing for them to do is get married, but then feelings start  getting involved.

In the previous books Nash has always been  the strong one, the person who is always there for everybody  else and  its only in the 3rd book  we get  to  really start  seeing  his insecurities. In this book the way he acts is explained and he is a very human character.

I haven’t rated this as high as the other books in the series because it didn’t feel like the characters were as “deep” as the others (not sure if that the right word). It is still very good, just not extraordinarily so. I didn’t feel as emotionally connected to Forest and Nash as I  had to  the characters in the previous books.

It does wrap up  the series nicely, with us seeing how Creek, Bean and Tameron are moving on with their lives along with how other secondary characters we have met along the way are  doing , such as Drayton and Drax.
