Liam Calhoun has been looking up the mountain he lived at the bottom of for years, but in the last six months or so, the feeling has become urgent. Not only is his brother, Rory, up there with a pack of werewolves, but the old homestead at the edge of the treeline is calling to him.
Something up there needs him, what he finds there when the snows clear changes Liam’s life forever.
Theo is a werewolf on the run, his small pack destroyed, the survivors flung to the four winds. He has his friends’ baby, and nowhere to go until he finds a homestead at the top of the mountain and settles in to fight what’s left of the winter. When Liam comes up the mountain during the early spring thaw, Theo knows he’s finally found home.
Can the two of them deal with Theo’s lost pack, Liam’s emerging werewolf identity, and the brutal high mountain weather to form a pack of three, or more?
Liam is an mpreg wolf shifter romance with a lot of comfort, snuggling, and some adventurous wolves.
REVIEW:
Note: This is the second book in this series and as such has major spoilers for the first book in the series.
In this second book of the series, another Calhoun brother, Liam, has been called up the mountain to investigate the old resident dragon’s home. The dragons had left and their abandoned home was gone. Except when Liam FINALLY convinces Keegan, the pack alpha, that he is going come hell or high water, they discover that the home has reappeared and a nearly starved to death shifter and a baby are there waiting for them. Theo, the shifter, is the one who has been calling out to Liam. He knows this because he can hear him in his head. That’s especially helpful since Theo collapses as soon as Keegan and Liam find him, along with Gael, the baby that he’s vowed to protect after his parents were killed.
Liam and Keegan take the two, who are in very bad shaped, back to Niall and Loyal’s pack a ways down the mountain. Niall is the shaman of the pack and a seer and he knows Liam is Theo’s mate right away. Liam insists he is NOT a wolf. Wouldn’t he know something about that by now? However, his brother Rory didn’t shift until he found his mate so . . .
Liam and never felt a pull like he does to Theo. He’s very protective of both Theo and Gael. He knows he would risk everything to protect them and keep them safe. It doesn’t take too long for Theo to begin to recover and the secure their mate bond 😉 Of course this being an omega and a latent alpha, they end up pregnant right away. And it seems that Liam is determined to fix up the old Dragon home for his new pack.
Eventually other join them and there is a new baby to take care of and love. They successfully get the old dragon site ready for a new pack to sustain.
This is another happy story for our shifter families/packs on this mountain. The Calhouns clearly have shifter genes and I expect that Ryan, the youngest Calhoun will be the next to find his mate. Whether he’s an alpha or omega is still to be determined. Rory is an omega and Liam is an alpha so who knows? Yes, it’s a formula, but the sweet ending is enjoyable.
