BLURB:

Flynn Knight has a million things to do. From the mundane, like helping his new friends open the restaurant next door, to feeding his cat—a near full-time job. Then there are the unexpected things, like trying to find out about his father’s people, now that one has tried to kill him.

When someone adds yet another attempted assassination to the mix, the only thing he knows for sure is that he can’t hide in his back office until everything blows over.

Right?

No, of course not.

Besides, if he’s in danger, then so are his friends, and he can’t have that; he’s attached. Especially to his new business partner, Davin Byrne, the world’s weirdest vampire, who has dark secrets of his own.

Façade is second in a new series set in the Fantastic Fluke universe. It settles Flynn into his new life with his friends and family, begins to explore the slow burn romance plot, and continues the main overarching plot, which will complete in book three, Masquerade.

REVIEW:

Flynn Knight is quickly becoming a favorite character for me.

Poor Flynn, he’s just a guy who’s trying to get his life together and fate keeps getting in the way. And now his family history has a whole new slew of crazy running him over. At least his new business partner is turning out okay…and the fact that he’s gorgeous has nothing to do with it, right?

Then there’s Davin, a vampire who’s really not interested in following all the “rules” that come with his unwanted transformation. Maybe it’s just his Irish blood that makes him contrary.

This story has such an interesting premise, and the characters are all very compelling. I adore everyone I met so far, at least all the ones on Flynn and Davin’s side.

Also, I am loving the critters that show up. Who doesn’t want a sloth security guard? Or a raven that’s spicy and not above telling you off. Or a kitten who’s a whole lot more than she seems?

Flynn’s mom is everything a vampire queen should be. Regal, wicked smart…and maybe just wicked as well. But she loves her son and will do anything to make sure he has a fantastic life.

Watching Flynn figure out just how much Davin cares about him is a lot of fun…and frustrating. I will admit to just wanting to smack him in the back of the head a few times because he really needs to stop being so stubborn.

Sam Burns is always at the top of my list for excellent storytelling but then they added Greg Tremblay as the narrator and took everything up a hundred notches.

I could list to the man read the phone book and it would make me sigh.

Greg brings Sam Burn’s amazing characters to life in the best way. Each character has their own unique voice, and you always know who is speaking. It’s never over-acted and Greg brings even more depth to the already interesting people who populate this story. Once I started listening, I couldn’t stop until it was finished. So what if a missed a few stops on the train and had to go back. It was worth it.

All in all, Sam Burn’s really knows how to get a reader’s attention and keep it. Good story telling is a gift and Burn’s has it in spades.

I really can’t wait for book three!
