Even demons get bored…
Luke is a poor grad student, desperate for a cheap place to live.
Desperate enough even to live in a house full of demons.
(Anything is better than his last roommate.)
When the demons find it’s nearly impossible to scare Luke away, they decide on a new plan to amuse themselves.
They’re going to help Luke with his love life.
Can they really aid Luke’s efforts to catch his college crush? Or are they headed for a disaster that neither heaven nor hell can fix?
Demon Dating Service is a fluffy, chaotic stand-alone novel about a sweet guy making friends with the misfits of the demon world, trying to survive grad school, and snagging the hottest guy on campus.
REVIEW:
Not what you would expect while reading the blurb. I didn’t expect it to be so sweet! I certainly didn’t expect it to involve two sweet young men who were already attracted to each other but didn’t know how to approach each other, And I didn’t expect demons who are awkward but also sweet, caring and loving in their own weird way.
Luke is a graduate student who is trying to finish his doctorate, but even with two jobs while going to school, he is still struggling financially. So after couch surfing with friends and reaching a point when some of the roommates are already complaining of his presence, he tried looking for really cheap accommodation, where he can just shower and crash after a long day. Fortunately, he got a flyer from a crow while in campus. It advertises a cheap room just outside of campus. So he goes to check it out and cannot believe his luck of finding such a place. What he didn’t know is that the house is occupied by bored demons who came to earth because they were summoned by humans but also didn’t know how to send these demons back to where they come from.
These demons are so bored on their stay here on earth, so they decided to rent a room to a human and scare him to death so they can have fun. I think their crows decided on Luke because Luke is kind to them on campus, he feeds them nuts. And that is why also when other students pick on Luke they also decide to protect Luke and attack those students. So when Luke came to look at the room, they readily accepted him to be their new tenant. Unbeknownst to Luke, they have plans for him. But again, fortunately for Luke and very unfortunate for the demons, Luke doesn’t scare easily. So when everything “scare tactic” didn’t work on Luke, they decided to do another game, and that is to help Luke in his love life.
A truly fun and sweet read, Luke and Matteo are perfect for each other, and the demons Azroth, Ogos, Mullmag, Bath’tuk, Tog and Annod are just enough chaos to make their daily lives interesting. The demons have decided that Luke is theirs and so wherever and whatever plans Luke and Matteo may have, they will be with them always.
Thank you Ms. Jocelynn Drake, this was truly a fun read and you can’t help but root for Luke and Matteo while also wishing for the demons to always be with Luke to protect and help him while they are also learning the ways of the human world.
