Zevran vel Nacht was trained to be the Night Court’s deadliest assassin. But after they tore his first mate from him, he swore never to serve them again.
Then they capture Malik.
Zev should leave the human to his fate. Fragile. Mortal. Far too easy for the Court to break. But Malik is also an ally—and Zev has never abandoned an ally. To keep him alive, Zev must kill whomever his family commands.
Malik never wanted to be anyone’s weakness, least of all Zev’s. He refuses to watch him be dragged back into the life he fought to escape. He knows Zev is more than a cold-blooded killer. He sees his loyalty, his defiance, his heart still struggling to be free.
Yet every choice Zev makes to protect Malik pulls him deeper into the Court’s games, closer to becoming the monster they trained him to be. Zev warns him to be afraid, to run while he still can.
But Malik isn’t afraid. If Zev can’t believe in himself, Malik will believe for him.
REVIEW:
Disclaimer: This is book three in the Monsters of Veridia series and as such you really need to read this series in order. If you don’t quite frankly you will be lost and missing out on a fantastic series.
I can’t say enough about this book. The world building has been stepped up even more than in the previous books. In this one we travel to the Veridian world and fantastic things happen in this world. I’m always so impressed when an author can just create a world out of thin air. Silvana has exceeded my expectations for this world. We get to experience the Night Court territory, the Shadow King’s territory and more during this story’s adventure.
In this story we get to follow along with Zev and Malik, who appear in the prior two books. Their adventure starts with a bang and only gets more complicated from there. Silvana’s character development for not only the main characters but the side characters as well is so detailed and well done. In his former life, Zev was the best assassin the Night Court had. Malik, who Zev rescue from a possessed Caelen – see book two for those details, has gone along with Zev and their merry band of travelers to try and figure out what is causing the worlds to overlap and disappear.
As I have come to expect from Silvana, the prose for this story is nothing short of brilliant. From creating tense scenes of mild torture to sexy times- yes, they are hot and plentiful, to the battle scenes, she creates masterfully written scenes that are engaging and so full of intrigue that you never want to put this story down.
Do Zev and Malik survive the machinations of the Night Court? Will Malik and Zev get their happily ever after? Will Earth and Veridia survive the battle of the Barrier Temple? The answers to these questions and more intrigue await you in the Night Fae story. Because I’m not going to tell you….
There are not enough superlatives in this world or the next to describe how much I loved this story. As usual, don’t walk but run to your favorite eBook purchasing site to grab up a copy of Night Fae for yourself and experience the world of Veridia.
Till next time…
