Keston:
I’m never lucky.
As a foster kid I bounced from home to home.
My tattoo parlor is my only safe space.
My days are spent making art and my nights are lonely, even when I’m not alone.
Then I meet him.
Bailey Marks.
The man who won’t stop talking and making me laugh. Making me want to see him again and again. But I don’t belong in his suit-and-tie world.

Bailey:
I’m never lucky.
I lost my father, and my so-called mother sees me as a bank account. I spend my time bailing my sister out of trouble, but she’s all I’ve got.
Except my law practice, which is the only thing that’s totally mine.
I tell too many jokes to hide how lonely I am, and I have way too many one-night stands.
I just want someone to love.
Then I meet him.
Keston Harris.
The gorgeous loner who’s closed off his emotions, with walls higher than the Empire State building. One kiss from him, and I’m a goner.

We’re two lonely hearts, unlucky in life and love, failed by people who should’ve been there for us.
What we do know is, the world feels better when we’re together, and life seems easier now that we have each other.

Trust issues? We’ve got a million of them.
Yet we keep turning to each other when life gets tough.
But it’s nothing serious.
Maybe if we say it often enough, we’ll believe it.

And maybe…just maybe, we’ll finally be one of the lucky ones.

REVIEW:

I hadn’t realized that this was becoming a series and I can honestly say that I am thrilled it is. I loved both of these books.

Keston  Harris has never really had luck on his side. His mother abandoned him at a shelter one day and he became part of the foster system. Thankfully he met Carlos, the tattoo shop owner that was 20 years his senior, who took him under his wing when he was only 16. Keston was in love with Carlos from the start but Carlos made him go and safely experience life. When Keston turned twenty they finally committed to each other made a good, loving life together for the next ten years. But that life was ripped apart during a robbery that ended Carlos’s life. Carlos left everything to his true love but Keston was all alone again. Story of his life.

Bailey Marks grew up with a very loving father who was a beat cop in NYC. When 9/11 happened his father was right there on the pile. He unfortunately developed that nasty lung disease that has taken so many of our brave first responders and passed away. Of course his mother, who had abandoned him and his dad when Bailey was only four, came back in time to claim anything she could get out of the estate and illness funds. She came along with a daughter ten years Bailey’s junior. But dear old mom only cared about one thing…herself! So Bailey took care of his little half-sister too…and still is!

When Keston and Bailey meet at a club, that Keston is at with his older brother Grady, and discover that Grady and Bailey are friends sparks fly but they words get in the way. But Bailey is no quitter and he decides to go talk to Keston at his tattoo parlor. There is undeniable chemistry between these two broken men. But can they get past all their baggage and be The Lucky Ones?

These two men were actually way more alike than anyone would have guessed. From outward appearances they would appear as absolute opposites. But many parts of their lives were quite similar. They both had been tossed away like and old sweater when they were very young. They both had half siblings that they didn’t know about until they were much older. They both had struggled with self confidence and loneliness as a result of their abandonment issues. And they both were hard working men that made a life for themselves despite their youth. They also both were sure that they were destined to be alone and unloved for the rest of their lives. But they actually were the missing piece for each other.

I loved that Grady, Lauren, Weston and Brenner were all team Keston/Bailey and bound and determined that they make a life together. It’s was especially touching when Bailey finally started sharing why he was like he is with his friends. That took a lot of guts to finally rip away the mask that hid his true self and past. Thankfully Keston and Bailey had people who truly cared about them and wanted the men happy and loved.

Although it’s not a requirement to have read the first book, Not That Guy, I would highly recommend it. We met and got to know Bailey, friends and college mates with Weston and Brenner. And Keaton is the brother that Grady finally found and has grown closer to.

I love this series and hope there is more to come with all these wonderful found family.
