REVIEW:
Scoring a Sweet Thing by Jodi Oliver – 4.5 hearts
This very cute and funny story is tied to Emmy Sanders story in this anthology, Catch Me Again. Here we have a hockey goalie who does NOT want to be part of a bachelor auction. When a rather shy tattoo artist answers his post on H2H, things get hilarious pretty quickly. I loved Bailey so much and Remi is a very eccentric goalie. Bailey knows nothing about hockey but he does like hockey butts 😉 So do the Senior Citizens of Seattle. 😉
Lavender and Lace by Kate Hawthorne – 4.25 hearts
Reg has inherited money and his family is badgering him to find a house. He doesn’t want a house. He’s a lawyer – partner in his firm – and he has no need for a house. He likes his apartment, he doesn’t want a commute, etc. He has no idea how to go about finding a house and his sister Claire who is also his broker is not taking no for an answer. So he finds a guy who works in a bookstore and has pink hair on H2H. He feels like the guy would up for this adventure. And he finds out he’s right 🙂 There is lavender essential oils lace undergarments involved too 😀
Telling the Bees by Lily Morton – 4.5 hearts
This is a totally on brand story from Lily Morton. Georgie has left his home in the country for the bright lights of London. He has had a one-sided crush on a local boy, Zeke. But Zeke is straight and Georgie can’t just watch him marry his HS sweetheart. Georgie wasn’t good at school though and he’s become a life model. He’s broken up with his on and off boyfriend of years and then gets invited to said ex’s wedding. What he needs is a convincing fake boyfriend since he’s definitely not going to Simon’s wedding stag. His ad in H2H ends up in disaster – but a hilarious one 😉 And lo and behold, he reconnects with Zeke. And finds out some new information about his old friend now turned Honey farmer. And wouldn’t he be the perfect date? More so than Georgie even knows 😉
Encore by Marley Valentine – 4.25 hearts
Louis and Sterling met at a bar and had a one night stand. One they can’t stop thinking about. By coincidence they are both on H2H and Louis wants to go to a music concert but missed getting tickets. The guy who needs a plus one? Sterling. Oh my! Turns out they are a perfect match.
I Know the Way Home by Riley Nash – 4.25 hearts
Reed, a trans teacher, needs a “plus one” fake boyfriend for a medical visit. He doesn’t want to share exactly why initially. Cannon has just lost his job and he’s a loose ends. He sees Reed’s post on H2H and decides to go for it. Reed wants the “dating experience” at least. So Cannon is all in. Reed is sweet and funny and Cannon is a real surprise with all of his crafty skills. Turns out that these two are very very good for each other. In every single way. It’s romantic and cute and funny.
