REVIEW:

For a Chance at Butterflies by Charlie Novak – 4.5 heart

I thoroughly enjoyed this story of Jules and Tai.  Jules “friend” Darius is demanding, demeaning, gaslighting and abusive.  But Jules has know him since age 3.  Now he’s got Jules ex-boyfriend, Philip, an artist who is trading on the contacts that Jules provided and is Darius has decided Jules should play music for the gallery opening.  Jules doesn’t want to go alone.  All of his friends are part of the Darius + Philip group and he doesn’t like to rock the boat because Darius will just attack and embarrass and make Jules life miserable.  But Tai, the guy he finds on H2H seems to actually like Jules.  They hang out a bunch before the event and Tai gets more angry on Jules behalf that he thinks so little of himself that he deserves this treatment.  He does what he can to get Jules to see him how he, Tai sees him.  I loved how Jules finds his voice and stands up for himself 🙂

Rhodes by Crea Reitan –  4.5 hears

This is a new to me author and I really enjoyed this dark romance.  Rhodes needs a date to his high school reunion.  But he’s quite the unusual guy.  He needs someone happy and he ends up finding Bennett on H2H.  Bennett really could not be more different than Rhodes, but he is up for this weekend.  When he meets Rhodes wolfpack, he’s even more excited.  Taking a private plan to a boarding school?  Not really on his bingo card, but Rhodes is so interesting – and also so sexy.  It’s a very eclectic place and the people are not the usual sort either.  Bennett chalks this up to the ultra rich, but he like Rhodes and he feels like there is more beneath the surface.  This is an over the top story, but I loved Bennett so much and Rhodes is intriguing.  I’m unfamiliar with the series that this is related to, but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of this story of these two opposites.

Light Me Up by EM Denning – 3.75 hearts

This is a perfect spooky season story.  Theo is afraid of the dark and he’s booked a haunted walking tour but then his BFF Clarissa bails.  She suggests getting someone from H2H to go.  Hamish answers and agrees to go.  Theo is very nervous and he isn’t exactly happy for Hamish to discover his secret, but Hamish is understanding and he wants to get to know Theo better.  This one didn’t grab me.  It felt a bit surface and too short.  I would have liked to know more about both of these guys.

Catch Me Again by Emmy Sanders – 4.5 hearts

This is a very humorous and adorable story of Lian and Foster who end up on a cruise together when Lian’s boyfriend breaks up with him.  It’s a two week cruise to Alaska from Seattle and Lian has been so looking forward to this.  He ends up advertising for a roommate on H2H and Foster ends up responding.  Turns out that Foster is afraid of open water.  And he’s allergic to seafood.  Say what???  Apparently his therapist thinks that more exposure therapy will work.  Lian is terrified that something will happen to Foster because he is a bit of a disaster magnet.  But it seems like Foster is perhaps the antidote to Lian’s disasters?  They spend time in various activities on the ship and get closer.  Their friends/family realize that they are catching feelings 😉  The epilogue is so cute!  I love a happy ending 😀

To Break the Ice by Fae Quinn – 4.5 stars

This is a cute and then steamy of two pretty opposite guys who discover something new 😉  Iven reaches out to Maddox for sort of petty reasons.  But when he meets Maddox, he is very intrigued.  Iven thought he knew himself, but all it took was some time with the enigmatic Maddox to discover that maybe he didn’t know himself as well as he thought.  Iven is shocked but not upset and he’s sort of determined to see where this goes.  It’s very hot and filled with holiday fun and these two make an amazing team of ice sculptors 😉
