I am a football fan. High School games are great. Knowing the young men and watching them play is awesome. Going to college games in person…even better! And that one time I got to go to the Cardinals game, when visiting Phoenix, was awesome 🥰 So getting any books about football is my jam.
Hayden Porter is one of the best PA’s in the city. And that’s saying a lot in a place like New York. He has been making sure his boss, 75 year old Boris Kunoff of Kunoff Shipping and one of the richest men in the Northeast, never has to worry that his life wasn’t in perfect order. Hayden puts in all the extra hours to make sure his boss is always ready. So, when Boris returns from Vegas with a 24 year old bride at his side, Hayden is blindsided that Cindy Sue is taking over his job and his services are no longer required 😳. With his first call to Janice Butler, who placed him with Boris, her reaction was priceless. “What a fucking moron. Another fool being led by his dick and a pair of silicone boobs.” Hayden trusts Janice. She knows all his secrets and makes sure he’s in a good place. When she orders him to relax, go out and get a drink and then get laid, he knows it’s a good idea. Little did he realize that the sweet and shy man that he had the most amazing time with would soon be his boss! But is this a Bad Idea??? Or possibly the best idea to come his way if he can let down his guard and let it happen?
I have to say, these men knew business and numbers. But they truly had absolutely no idea about anything football what so ever. They didn’t even know what positions players were in. I wasn’t sure that the author could pull me to believe that it would and could work. But she did such a great job proving to me that I was totally wrong! When Armi countered on Jacob when he stated “Your personal life reflects on the team.” “No. It does not,” Armi snapped. “Go into any stadium and ask a fan who the owner of the team is. I’ll bet most don’t know, and even more importantly, a hundred percent won’t care about his or her personal life unless they’ve committed some unforgivable crime.” She had me totally convinced that they could hold their own and make the team a success. I believed in them totally. I can only tell you who a very few owners are in the current NFL. And that’s only because they have done something really stupid for the team or in their personal life. Armi, with Hayden by his side, would never be so stupid. He was to bright and caring. And, together, they had this in the bag!
I loved how Hayden’s parents just showed up when they heard their only son had finally settled down. After his trouble in college I’m sure they still worried about him ever settling down. He had closed himself off to everything but his career and one-night trysts )when an itch needed to be scratched). I loved that they opened their arms and hearts to Armi. He needed that level of parental support that he had never experienced. And I loved that Hayden’s talk with Armi’s mom helped move that relationship forward too. Nothing could ever fix what Armi’s dead father did to him. But having this new found love and support from family was key to Armi’s growth mentally and professionally. He needed people to believe in him so that he could learn to believe in himself.
I can’t wait to dive into more of this series! This book captivated me from the start and I couldn’t put it down. Great start to what is shaping up to be an amazing series.
