BLURB:

Single father Brendan Marshall is trying to keep life and limb together after his divorce. Having gotten custody of Jameson in a tough custody battle, he’s determined to be the best father he can. However, it seems his ex is not willing to just walk away, even if she isn’t up for mother of the year. When a threat arises to his family horse farm, he realizes he needs help to keep his family safe.

Lucas Stone is a bouncer at a happening night club until it closes its doors, and what he needs now is a job. Through a mutual friend, Lucas meets Brendan. He knows nothing about farms, horses, or goats. But what he does know is security, and the fact that there is something about Brendan that gets under his skin… like, way under.

Both men are in uneasy territory, but they quickly realize that they need to rely on each other. Brendan comes to learn that Lucas will act in order to keep him and Jameson safe, and Lucas quickly figures out that while country life is different from his past experience, it also has its charm… like the farmer and his amazing son. But just as a relationship begins to build, outside threats could pull everything they care about to pieces.

REVIEW:

I love Andrew Grey’s books and this one was no exception!

Brendan Marshall has no idea what to do. Someone is messing with his home and livelihood and he fears that it has something to do with his ex-wife, the mother of his precious son Jameson. When these instances grow bolder and more dangerous, he reaches out to his lawyer for assistance. Greg suggests his dear friend Lucas Stone to come stay at the Horse farm. Lucas is a beast of a man and skilled bouncer. He is just as concerned with where this is all going on the sweet man’s horse farm and is now invested in Jameson too. When things start getting more dangerous Lucas makes sure that the end is soon. But what happens then, because they both have gone and caught feelings?

I believe that the lawyer we meet in here is Greg Lampeter. We first met him when he was in his own book, The Lawyer’s Quandary, where he helped take down an abusive college coach. I agree with Lucas that Greg is happy in his permanent relationship and wants his friend to be the same. I loved the matchmaker hat he included in his lawyer tricks.

I loved how devoted Brendan was to both his livelihood and his precious son. He protected all that his clients put their trust in him with the horses. He was a trainer/teacher through and through. And sweet little Jameson was his life. I did love how fast and easily that Lucas connected with Jameson and how Brendan just knew his son was safe with him.

I was thankful that the culprit wasn’t who I thought it was. It wouldn’t have worked for me to change that completely and have the total disregard of the horses safety.

Sweet, wonderful, very quick read with a dash of suspense and action thrown in.
