Charlie Putnam loves his job at the Grand Springs hotel, not because he adores front desk work, but because he gets to meet all kinds of people, which he’d be too scared to do otherwise. He’s also being allowed to redecorate some of the rooms. He has a passion for it, which makes it impossible to resist Kaleb, who shows up at the hotel with two enormous dogs and a plan to remodel the most famous, and infamous, house in the Secret Springs area, even though he’s been hurt in the past. Literally.

When Kaleb Raleigh sells his business and retires in his thirties, he decides to move to Secret Springs. And to buy the Dewhurst mansion, which supposedly is the scene of a very sad murder. Meeting Charlie at the hotel is the best kind of bonus, and Kaleb sets his sights on the shy young man right away. Can they solve the mystery of the big house, find the common ground Kaleb knows they have, and make a home for Charlie?

This is an mpreg romance with a trauma survivor, a haunted mansion, and a lot of love…

REVIEW:

Back to Secret Springs and this time it’s a doozy!

Charlie Putnam is finally getting his life on track. After being beaten and then tossed down the coal chute and left to die in the coal room of the Mercantile Building.. Then he is rescued by Hank and Elliot, with help and guidance by Joe (the Mercantile’s protectors of all omega’s ghost). He is now living a comfortable life in the room set up by Lukas and Chase for omegas that need a safe place. With his career-ending shoulder injury his baseball career is over. But now he had a great job working the front desk at the Grand Springs Hotel. Mark was also letting him design the period-piece rooms at the hotel and everyone are completely impressed with the finished rooms so far. The suites had all the modern conveniences but with a completely authentic period look. When the newest member of town, Kaleb Raleigh retires after the sale of his business, the thirty-something buys the Dewhurst Mansion and needs the beautiful young man that’s helping with the hotel renovations to make his place an authentic showpiece. But that’s not all Kaleb is interested in with the gorgeous omega. Kaleb loves that Charlie is so sweet and kind to everyone, including his dogs, the kids that come to visit and the ghosts that are all around. But can a young man with so much trauma learn to love the man that Kaleb is. Because there is one thing obvious…Charlie is not a gold-digger looking for a sugar daddy…but he sure deserves one! And Kaleb would do anything for his Charlie.

This book had a major paranormal presence in it. Ezekiel and Augustus needed both Charlie and Kaleb to make sure that the stories the people of Secret Springs had heard were false. That Augustus had not killed his beloved pregnant omega. That he loved had him and their little one that was coming. And I love that both Ezekiel and Augustus were there with Charlie when he needed them the most. Just like Joe had been when he was left for dead when he first arrived in Secret Springs and was thrown down the coal chute to die cold and alone. Charlie just seemed to have a special connection to all the spirits. Even the Ghosts at the Hotel looked out for him. And he was so easy in accepting their presence.

That mansion was sure huge project. How I wish I could go visit it and see how fabulously their new home turned out after all their hard work. Charlie made sure to make it as authentic as possible, while adding new modern conveniences to make it usable/livable.

You know what I have decided I’m hoping for with this series? I hope that we get some kind of special Christmas novella. I have always said that a series novella, especially one that is catching us up on how everyone we have become family with, is like the old fashion Christmas Card with the yearly letter sharing how all of the family was doing back when I was a child. I would wait to listen to my Mama read what was happening in my cousin’s lives. I need a book like that, one which shares what we all want to know and we get all caught up with all these wonderful omegas, their steadfast and overly protective alphas, and all those wonderful babies that Devon and River have delivered. I want to know how each family is doing. I want to know how old each of the children they have are now (because timelines are unknown in this series! I literally have no idea how many Children Mark and Chase have had by now!!!) I need to attend one of the Secret Springs special events. I need to go to the Alpha’s get-together. I have to go to the Omega’s fun times and get all the juicy gossip. And I really have to hang with the kids a bit to see who their personalities took after in their fathers. I also want to hear how all the extended families are doing. So yes, I need a follow up novella. It can be after Devon’s story…because all is Secret Springs Fans need his story!!!
