Tempting the Fae Lord is a high fantasy gay romance featuring an icy gatekeeper with a warm, gooey center, a tenderhearted human with a penchant for mischief, and the found family feels we crave. Shameless pining, Hurt/Comfort, slow burn MM romantasy with an unfortunate abundance of beds. A standalone love story within a larger world if you find yourself, like Gale, craving more.
REVIEW:
Gale is a human who was replaced by a changeling by the Gatekeeper. The Gatekeeper is both fae and vampire. He is feared and misunderstood, but he has always done his duty. He has an attachment to Gale, one of the many humans he has brought back to his home near the gate over time. Gale is determined to go back to the earthly realm to meet his real parents – despite the many dangers there. The Gatekeeper has spent Gale’s life saving him, keeping him out of trouble and trying to make sure he grows up well. Gale has a fascination with the Gatekeeper though. One that goes beyond protector and ward.
While the Gatekeeper, or Ezra as he was once known, tries to keep Gale safe, Gale is hellbent on finding his family and so he follows Ezra through the gate. Ezra has been gone too long and Gale is worried. What he finds on the other side is nothing that he expects. And his following through puts literally everything and everyone in danger.
Ezra is distracted by Gale’s audacity and the danger he is not in. But he also relents to Gale’s wishes. Unfortunately that leads of course to more danger and it’s not clear that Ezra is strong enough to save everyone from a sorceress hellbent on destroying him and everyone he loves.
Wow! This was a surprise. It’s a complete standalone story in the Luminia world. If you haven’t read those books, you won’t be lost. This is a new set of characters and a new setting in the same world. Ezra and Gale are clearly meant to be together – there is much mutual pining. But Ezra feels responsible for Gale and he’s watching him grow up and he’s convinced that he just cannot have anything for himself. His past tells him that he will just end up in more pain losing yet another human. But maybe it doesn’t have to be that way? 😉 You’ll have to read it to find out. There are battles and magic and visits and help from afar that provide the support that Ezra needs to get his heart’s desire 🙂 If you are a romantasy fan, this story will definitely enthrall 😉 Highly recommended.
