Calvin suffers from debilitating anxiety. His father and boyfriend just shove pills at him and say he’s mentally ill. They control every moment of his young life. At least his father allowed him to attend college and obtain his degree in Early Childhood Education. But that was so he could be a better stay-at-home dad! On the way to a getaway, Damian, his now jerk of an ex, and Calvin break up and the scum just drops the fragile omega on the side of the road…in the mountains…in the middle of a huge snow storm…in only tennis shoes and a hoodie…six miles from the nearest town…with a dying battery on his phone!!! Thankfully bear shifter Barclay spots the tiny human omega and comes to rescue him. Barclay is furious at the heinous actions of the disgusting alpha and makes sure that Calvin is protected and cared for. But Calvin’s delicious scent is causing issues and Barclay, who knows he is a grump, is over 25 years older than the omega who isn’t even old enough to order a beer! I loved that Calvin’s debilitating anxiety attacks basically disappeared when he was under Barclay’s loving care and severed from his ex and father. Between the fated mate bond and the elimination of stress from all that, Calvin was able to function. What a relief. And then, during his talk with Hunter, the town’s doctor, he learns that the meds that his dad and Damian pushed on him were were way too strong and Hunter learns he never even met the crony of his dad’s who prescribed the large dosage! I loved how all the supporting characters introduced stood strong and made sure Calvin was being protected and cared for. I eagerly await each of their stories when they find their fated mates too!
Beauville, where this story is based, was an abandoned gold rush town way up in the mountains that the bear shifter community discovered about a century ago. They bought up the town and established their community there. Although the limited amount of humans dwelling there know the Shifter community and live in harmony, it is totally a bear shifter controlled town. The Mayor, Sheriff and B & B owner make sure it remains that way too!
If you want a book filled with heat and knotting sex 🔥🔥🔥 then this is your book! It is jam-packed sex, sex, sex from the moment Calvin’s heat arrives 4 months early. And then pregnancy horniness follows shortly after. These two love each other so much and sexy times are super plentiful!
