An alpha president with a pack and a club to protect, a human looking for a place to belong.
Lynx
I want him.
I need him
But I can’t have him.
Not without jeopardising everything I care about.
Morgan Webb is as dangerous to me as any silver blade, and a club of shifters is no place for a human, especially when he has no idea we even exist.
I need to keep my distance, even when every bone in my body aches to be near him.
But fate has other plans in store for us. Sending him away is one of the hardest things I’ve had to do, but it’s the only option. It’s also a decision I’ll come to regret.
I just hope we all make it out alive.
Lynx is book one in the Wild Wolves Motorcycle Club series. A paranormal MM romance with a little angst, plenty of action, and a whole lot of UST.
REVIEW:
Love finding a new somewhat grittier shifter series to sink my teeth into and this one lured me right in. When the story began, it felt a little like I had missed a book that contained a good amount of backstory, but as I read, that faded away as more details of this world and its characters were given.
There are a few things going on in different directions at first, but they pretty quickly head towards each other and intertwine. We have Morgan dealing with issues brought on by his father wherein they are going to lose their house. Not wanting to impose on his bff, Ash, Morgan decides to approach one of the biker gangs to see about joining which he believes will solve a number of his problems. Unfortunately, the Wild Wolves quickly turn him away for their own reasons. Threatening to go to the rival gang, the Feral Beasts, Morgan leaves without any intention of actually going there. His night camping in the woods takes a dark turn, however, and Morgan is thrust into the shifter world in a pretty devastating way.
Lynx is the alpha of the pack and President of the Wild Wolves which is basically a cover for the pack. The Wild Wolves have made it their mission to rescue shifters from an underground fight ring. The shifters are sort of governed by Hunters who basically police their activity and see that they are all sticking to the established rules. All of these things eventually collide or intersect as the story unfolds.
Another aspect here is that Lynx and Morgan are fated mates. But, as Lynx is the alpha and leader of the club, he feels he must concentrate on that and not be distracted by a mate, and a human one at that. There is also the tiny detail that Morgan doesn’t want anything to do with being a mate. So, needless to say, there are a lot of factors at play here.
Once this story got rolling and I had a better understanding of the big picture, I was quickly turning pages and becoming invested in the outcome. There were times that I wished some things were expanded on, such as the importance of Lynx being the alpha which isn’t really discussed much with Morgan. All in all, I really enjoyed how this all played out. This was a somewhat gritty story in that there is a good bit of violence and very little fluff. There is none of the usually tropes, such as mpreg or knotting, which I really appreciated. Further, there are a number of interesting characters to look forward to learning more about. I was already trying to picture who else would find their mate. Looks like Lynx’s right paw man and beta, Callum, is up next, and I hope we don’t have to wait to long to get the continuation of this series.
