That Feeling when the man you just robbed and left tied up and blindfolded turns out to be in the mafia…

I’m not proud of the things I’ve had to do for money to pay off my dad’s debts and put my younger brother through college. But I’ll never regret it.

What I do regret is accidentally robbing a Moretti.

Having to look over my shoulder and ducking every time a car backfires is bad enough, but when the man in question starts costing me business? Yeah, I think we’re going to have a problem.

I never knew I could feel the way I do when Luca Moretti gets on his knees for me, but I don’t have time to be romanced by this obsessed, submissive, mafioso.

No one has ever made me feel as strong and capable as he does. Can I really be the viper he sees me as? If I learn how to bite, can I finally make my life my own with Luca Moretti at my side?

REVIEW:

Note:  This is the fourth in a series and has some spoilers for the previous books.

Luca Moretti is a character we’ve met in previous books.  He was watching his uncle Sal’s beloved Dante 😉  But now it’s his turn to find his feisty stinging twink.  He just doesn’t expect to get robbed by him their first time together 😉

Anders is a guy who has to make money.  He’s supporting his horrible addict of a father while trying to protect his younger brother from the same fate.  His brother is in college, about to finish and move far away from the clutches of said father and then Anders can get away as well.  He’s been squirreling away money to make that happen.  But his plan was to buy a new identity from the Morettis.  Too bad he’s screwed the pooch on that one now.  And he’s not even sure he’ll live long enough to get away anyway now.  Damn it!

Luca was looking for a little bite with his fun and he found it with Anders.  When he’s robbed of his watch and wallet, he can’t help but admire Anders.  And he doesn’t care about the stuff – he just wants to see Anders again.  His uncle Sal has some ideas of how to find him 😉  And he does.  But Anders isn’t coming along quietly.  He’s got stuff on his mind.

When Luca gets it out of Anders why he’s doing what he’s doing and why, he’s determined to help. He’d like to do that legally – but that may or may not be the answer.  Needless to say Anders is really surprised that this Moretti – the one he robbed – wants to help him.  But for the first time, he thinks MAYBE he can trust someone!

On these Morettis and their love for violent twinks 😀  Luca and Anders appear to be such opposites, but they are compatible in ways even they can’t believe.  Anders is plenty prickly – he’s had to be. He’s been working the streets for a while and he’s not naive.  He just can’t believe that Luca and the Morettis don’t want to punish him for what he’s done.  In fact they send others to help!  I loved the dynamic between these two.  Loved seeing Sparrow and Dante and the rest of the Morettis here too 🙂  A wild ride that leads to a happy ending – although not without some violence 😉

Nick J. Russo and Declan Winters are a great narrating duo.  The consistent voices here are “chef’s kiss”.  I love Anders snark and bravery.  I loved Luca’s protectiveness and also his interaction with his mafia family.  He’s ok being both things and Anders benefits also.  Great combination of hard and soft, brave and tender.  Highly recommended.
