BLURB:
He was my forbidden enemy. My darkest temptation. And the one person who could destroy everything I’ve built.
Rhett
Some rivalries run deeper than blood. Ours runs deeper than hate.
Aiden Whitmore was never supposed to be on my team. Not after what his family did to mine.
Not after the hostile takeover that nearly destroyed us.
But he’s here, skating circles around my defenses with that cocky smirk and those green eyes that see straight through me.
I should stay away. I should remember why I hate him.
Instead, I’m thinking about his hands on my skin and the way he looked at me in that library.
Enemies. Teammates. Obsessions.
This isn’t just about hockey anymore. And I’m about to lose the only game that matters.
Aiden
He wants me gone. I want him on his knees.
Rhett Morrison thinks he’s better than me. More honorable, more deserving, more everything.
He doesn’t know about the pressure crushing me from all sides. And he doesn’t want to bend.
But he will.
I see the way he watches me in the locker room.
I know how his body responds when I pin him against the wall.
He can hate my name all he wants. By the time I’m done with him, he’ll be moaning it.
Price of Victory is a hockey romance and the fifth and final book in The Saints of Westmont U series. It follows two enemies from rival families in a forced proximity teammates situation, family business warfare, and explosive hate-to-love chemistry. While each book can be read on its own, reading in order will be more fun.
REVIEW:
Rhett comes from the Morrison family, and Aiden from the Whitmore family. Both run a famous media company. They are concurrents. The nasty business attitude of the Whitmores almost destroyed the Morrison Media Group slash family.
Rhett plays hockey at Westmont University. Guess who joined his team… Aiden.
They met before. Moving around the same business parties with their family since they were thirteen. Aiden always found Rhett and poked him.
It’s icy between the two, off and on ice. Rhett hates Aiden and Aiden looks down his nose at Rhett who thinks he’s better than Aiden.
Even though Aiden had nothing to do with what his father did, Rhett seems to hold him accountable.
But does he really know who Aiden is behind his walls, and what pressure he has on his shoulders?
At some point during training and games, the hostility coming from Rhett and the tension between them turned into something else. There’s an undeniable attraction, and it’s mutual.
Oh boy, watch them when they give in to these feelings.
I loved the direction the course of this story took.
The encounters? Gosh, they took their time discovering each other, it was super intense and made of wonder, of enjoyment, full of warmth and romance. They were so good together.
I found the affection here the best of the best, just as the romantic parts.
There’s family drama, but not in an overwhelming way, it was present and well developed, it was more about Rhett and Aiden and their growing affection and their connection.
There are enough sports moments to enjoy, and we meet the guys again from earlier stories of this series!
The whole narrative was wonderfully written, very enjoyable, entertaining, and captivating.
