BLURB:

Can a sinner’s son outrun his father’s shadow, or will darkness follow him everywhere and taint everything?

No one’s life should be reduced to random items in an evidence box, only to collect dust for decades. Seeking justice for the forgotten will bring a temporary partner into Sawyer’s life who threatens his carefully curated peace. Alec Bishop, the son of a serial killer, arrives in Savannah with an audacious ego, an unwillingness to accept boundaries, and an overzealous fan club. Calling it quits isn’t part of Sawyer’s character, but he might not have a choice when the circumstances surrounding the sinner’s son take a dark twist.

Nature versus nurture? The age-old question forces Sawyer and Royce to reevaluate the relationships with their fathers, and it influences the parents they aspire to be now that the countdown to Baby Locke has begun.

The Sinner’s Son is book two in the Felonies and Fatherhood trilogy, the third installment in the Royce Locke and Sawyer Key story arc. ** New readers should start with the Zero Hour and Matrimony and Mayhem trilogies before reading Felonies and Fatherhood. ** The Sinner’s Son continues Royce and Sawyer’s happily ever after as they move into the most anticipated phase of their lives. Though some storylines span the trilogy, this book does not end in a cliffhanger. Heat, humor, heart, and homicide abound. You have been warned.

REVIEW:

NOTE:  Per the author’s note, this is not the place to jump into this universe.  It won’t make a lot of sense if you haven’t read the Zero Hour or Matrimony and Mayhem trilogies or the first where this couple gets together and continue their journey through marriage.

Royce and Sawyer are over the moon anticipating their new baby.  Kelsey, their friend and surrogate is so lovely with them 🙂  Both men are so excited – and they haven’t told their families yet, but the time has come!  Along side all this excitement though is of course work which never ends.

Sawyer is working with the son of a serial killer who things that there are more victims out there that his father didn’t confess to.  But he is really a bit overbearing and is aggravatingly obnoxious at his complete lack of respect for boundaries.  Sawyer is determined to get justice for these cold case victims – just as he is for all the cases he works.   Royce has his own mystery to deal with when the brother of one of his cadets goes missing.  Hmmmmm.

Then there is the determination of just how and when to tell both families about the new baby.  Royce is seeing his father in a different light and they are working on their relationship facing forward.  The joy at this news is just lovely 🙂  I can’t wait to see how these two deal with the next chapter in their story 🙂

I LOVE this couple.  They are still the fun, passionate, goofy, romantic pair that we’ve watched go from sort of adversaries to beloved couple.  The mysteries here were good – love a plot twist – and kept the pace rolling.  Royce’s evolving relationship with his family and particularly Eddie is so intriguing.  Sawyer and Royce are happier than ever looking forward to being fathers.  I enjoyed this story SOOO much.  As I’ve said in the past, I could read about these two forever.  Hopefully the next story in this trilogy isn’t the end 😉  Highly recommended and fans will thoroughly enjoy this new episode in the ongoing love story of Locke and Key.
