Ali Hazelwood meets Dungeons & Dragons in this enemies-to-lovers fantasy academia romcom where rival grad student wizards are forced to work together without killing—or falling for—each other.
Will they conjure love, or evoke chaos? Two rival wizards are about to find out.
Sebastian Walsh: Evocation Department. Human. The first of his family to pick college over the military.
Elethior Tourael: Conjuration Department. Half-elf. Pretentious asshole. The latest legacy Tourael at Lesiara U.
Both: Mageus Research Grant finalists.
Sebastian refuses to let anyone snatch this away, least of all a snob riding on old money. But what’s worse than a nemesis stealing your grant? You could both get it. Under the condition you work together.
Sebastian is in hell. Thio’s broody. Takes up their shared lab space with his projects . . . and biceps. Brings treats for Sebastian’s familiar . . .
. . . and is nothing like Sebastian thought.
When Sebastian’s past with the Touraels forces him to choose his research or Thio, the decision should be simple. But while working with his rival is volatile . . . falling for his rival might blow up Sebastian’s future.

REVIEW:
The Entanglement Of Rival Wizards (book 1 Magic and Romance series) by Sara Raasch
This is now my favourite book from Sara Raasch. I have loved every book I’ve read from her but this one is just very special. I think Seb and Thio are just very special. For three wonderful days u have lived in this beautiful world the author created and at the end of it I am exceedingly sad to leave. I am only holding out hope for Orok’s story to come so I get to go back – I absolutely loved him and o know his story is going to be important.
Told from Seb’s POV, I have to say this a brilliant rival to lovers story, it’s exceedingly clear from the get go he is not only in a prank war with Thio because of departmental rivalry (and the grant ofcourse) he genuinely has deep seated anger and resentment towards him and and his family. The way the author peels all this back is phenomenal along with the world building which is so intricate yet organic and extremely smoothly laid out, a completely different world but very easy to live in
The themes are heavier in this book than the previous books I’ve read from the author but are so sensitively handled, even in the fantasy realm, parts of it are hard to read and heart breaking. There are also lovely themes of found family that are just everything in this book.
But most of all it’s Thio and Seb’s relationship and how it develops and how absolutely swoony and soft and delicate and strong it is… my words are failing but believe me when I say it’s just brilliant.
Highly recommend reading this book if you love epic love, strong friendships and found family, brilliant world building, comeuppance and a fantastically written story.
This was just brilliant – I want to give this Infinity stars but I’m giving it five stars
