Arlo Wright is coming home.
Three years after leaving the only place he’s ever felt himself, Arlo moves back to Gaynor Beach, California, and this time it’s permanent. After a hellish few years of trying to pretend he didn’t leave a piece of his soul behind when he left at the end of that fateful summer, Arlo is choosing to live for himself, and no one else.
Of course, that means the first person he finds himself face to face with when back is the promise of forever he left behind.
Jordan Adams just wants to be kept.
After getting his heart broken twice, Jordan isn’t looking for love. He has his job as one of Gaynor Beach’s top dog trainers, and his menagerie to keep him company. His best friends are his cousin and the first person he ever loved, so asking for more seems to be a recipe for disappointment.
Until the one person he’ll never forget shows back up, and Jordan is tossed in a tailspin of “what could have been.”
One summer to heal the past.
Jordan and Arlo agree they can’t—shouldn’t—be together. Not after both men barely survived the first breakup. What they can do is be friends.
Friends who help each other out when times are tough. Friends who spend days on the beach together. Friends who train Arlo’s excitable puppy together.
Friends who are very much still in love.
Risking a second chance may mean reopening old wounds but letting go of their happiness—again—could be their undoing. With a little fate, and a lot of animal interruptions, they might find what they’ve been looking for all along. In each other.
A Furry Thing Called Love is a low-angst, second chance romance set in the Friends of Gaynor Beach Animal Rescue series. It contains a menagerie, ace and disability rep, and a romance that feels a lot like real life.
REVIEW:
Arlo and Jordan had one summer of love three years ago. They both knew it was a summer fling, but they couldn’t help falling in love with each other, even though there was always going to be an expiry date.
Arlo doesn’t know if moving back to the only place that he has felt himself is a good idea or not. He is keen to escape his loving but a little much, parents. They have never managed to quite understand his MS and what happens when he has a relapse. Moving back to Gaynor Beach means though that there is the chance of running into the man who still holds a little piece of his heart.
Jordan Adams, Gaynor Beach’s local dog trainer has never gotten over the love of his life, Arlo Wright. He is really surprised when the person he rushes over to help off the ground is the man who left three years earlier.
When Arlo has run out of all options when looking for a trainer that can help with Millie , the puppy his ex left him with he has know options but to ask Jordan for help and Jordan can’t say no to a friend.
This is the 8th book in the Friends of Gaynor Beach Animal Rescue multi author series. I have enjoyed all the books in the series, and this one is no exception. In fact I would go as far as saying it’s one of my favourites. There are several reasons why.
This book has an ace main character and there is actually no sex in the book. – Yes I know ace is a spectrum but very few books have an ace character and a non-sexual relationship between the main characters. Arlo and Jordan are very loving with each other and there are moments of intimacy, but they aren’t sexual which is refreshing.
The second reason is because it is very well linked to the prior books in the series. We get to see several characters from the prior books including Arthur who runs the Gaynor Beach Animal Rescue. I was just about to type my normal plea for someone to give him the story he deserves, and I have checked online and his book is next. I may have squeaked a bit. I cannot wait.
